"Arrived on the Friday, gentleman behind the desk was very nice and attentive. Said the hot tub would be warm by 8pm. got into the villa to find it a little grubby, it hadn't been cleaned to high standard at all, the table was sticky the pots were dirty when we came to use them, and the toilet had urine around the rim. The whole place just needed a deep clean. The hot tub wasn't warm by 8pm, as when we went to check it had been set at 26 degrees no the required 40 degrees so use of the hot tub on the first night was out of question. After we cleaned the villa and got the hot tub temperature sorted there was no further issues, apart from a lack of toilet rolls (only one per toilet) but we requested some more and got some. when we checked out of the villa we raised the issues of cleanliness and the hot tub to be told by a rather rude woman that we were told that the hot tub wouldn't be available on the first night and that it also stated in there lodge guides that this was the case, it didn't state this in the lodge guide at all and in fact reiterated the fact it would be ready by 8pm. Her reply on the state of the cleanliness of the lodge she stated that they were due a referb, which is of little use to use and is no excuse for a dirty lodge, I mean it isn't much to ask for a clean toilet. not a very helpful woman and very defensive even though they were Clearly in the wrong, we didn't ask for a refund or anything and only really got an appology when we were half way out of the door."

"The location of this property is why I would recommend it. A two minute walk to the train station & then a very short 15/20 minute journey into central London, makes this a great place to stay on the outskirts, if you want to spend your days sightseeing in London. Winchmore Hill itself has some great dining pubs & restaurants. The cottage itself, although very quaint, isn't very practical as a space to come back to relax in, which is the downside. It feels very formal & is over packed with unnecessary old furniture and knick knacks. It feels more like staying in a B&B or an older Aunts house. The stairs are extremely steep & the kitchen is on the first floor with the bedrooms which makes it difficult to cook anything & then bring it downstairs to eat. There is no DVD player & not enough comfortable sofa's to relax on an evening. The bedrooms don't have proper wardrobes so be prepared to literally live out of your case. Clean & tidy, but not practical for a family."

"I have stayed there twice this season and had wonderful times both times. Everything is there at the cottage you could possibly want and need. Only one thing missing a vase for flowers ! A minor thing, so I just took my own. Because it sleeps three it is a great place for a single person to holiday with friends, which is exactly what I did. I stayed with family from Yorkshire there, and last week friends from New Zealand there. I am a local girl who loves Wendover anyway, but they all loved it. So many walks to do from there, depending on the rain of course, and enough restaurants in Wendover to eat at a different one every night. Although everything is supplied for cooking at the cottage which we also did several nights. Thank you a wonderful place, but I don't want to tell many people !"

"Beautifully modernised 19th century cottage, very tastefully kitted out with all mod cons. Wendover is very charming, though hardly traffic-free, and the Chilterns are absolutely beautiful & a walker's paradise (at least until HS2 arrives). The cottage wouldn't suit the less able-bodied, with bedroom & bathroom on different levels, necessitating a somewhat hazardous night-time visit to the loo. The walls are thin, so it's possible to hear the next-door neighbours thundering up and down the stairs, not to mention two disagreeably yappy dogs. The "welcome pack" is a pint of milk, although the (overpriced) Tesco Express is 100 yards down the road. Although there are clear disadvantages, as above, the accommodation is of impressive quality overall."

"We had a wonderful weekend at S15715e. I took my boyfriend there as a treat for his birthday and it was perfect - all that we could have asked for, a lovely relaxing break away! Fran is absolutely brilliant, she was there to greet us and show us around, she even did a welcome package with essential supplies which was much appreciated! The hot tub is amazing, definitely a highlight! We highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be going back as soon as possible!"
