"Really enjoyed our stay last week. Shared the cottage with another family, 4 adults and three children in total. Plenty of room and comfortable. Village is v.quiet and nearest pub, the Nags head was a 5 minute drive on the way to Pontesbury which has a bakery, a co-op which is open 6am-10pm every day, two Chinese’s takeaways and a chip shop.Beds in cottage were comfortable, clean big bathrooms with instant hot water etc. Tv has free view which was a downgrade from sky, but more than adequate for the week. The owner Jayne who lives next door was very friendly as well as her dogs. The village is 5 miles from Shrewsbury which has the usual amenities, bowling, cinema and supermarkets. Also has a museum of local military history in the castle which was worth a visit. One hr south is Rhayader where the red kite feeding station is situated. Again worth a visit to see approx 300-400 wild red kites feeding 50 meters away and only £20 for a family of 4. Also managed a walk up Earls hill which has great views, but not an easy walk. The first few hundred meters were gravel tracks which soon became several hundred meters of very steep banks through the woods, but definitely worth the walk.Planned to go to Snowdon, but too far for children to walk and trains booked way in advance, so if this is on your agenda book in advance.Would We return, definitely. Plenty more to see and do that we could not manage in our week. A very beautiful part of the country which we would contemplate moving to."

"A lovely cottage, with a well equipped kitchen and lounge and two bedrooms. It is well away from the main farmhouse, and it is hard to spot any other civilisation even with its sweeping views of the countryside. It is an eco cottage with no mains electricity - it is instead supplied from a wind turbine and has batteries as a backup, as well as a petrol generator for windless days. It doesn't have any high consumption items, even the kettle is heated on the gas hob. The heating is from a woodburning stove which was lit when i arrived. It burns logs fast, they need replacing every 30 mins or so, but there is a large store outside, though these are exposed and some were wet or damp. It was really hard to light the fire when it went out - it took a lot of time feeding it with newspaper and twigs and I think the logs were damp which didn't help - a lesson on how to do it better would have been helpful. The instructions on how to use the three levers and knob on the fire differed between a) what the owner said, b) what the instructions in the manual said, and c) what other guest comments said... Some consistency would be very helpful. It is the only source of heat and as it goes out an hour after being fed, it could get very cold indoors at night if the weather was cold."

"A very compact cottage in a great countryside location, distant from neighbours. The cottage is accessed up a farm track a couple of 100 m long, but this sets it up and above the owner's house. Despite being called an "eco" cottage it's really quite comfortable, bottled gas provides for the cooking and wood for the burner does heating and hot water. Perhaps some more effort could be made to keep the draughts out (both doors and windows let the cold air in). The lounge was smaller than I expected, it's really just the small area shown at the bottom of the stairs, but this does mean that you have to sit close to the fire. There were only two of us in the cottage, I think it would have been very cramped with more than 2 adults."

"Lovely little cottage! Julie took our call at past midnight because we couldn't find it on arrival - that's service for you! Thank you. The surroundings are beautiful and it helped that the weather was wonderful. Would love to come back for longer next time.My only constructive criticism is that, having spent many years travelling in many different countries around the world, that the english are the meanest in terms of giving you anything for free! some tea/coffee would have been appreciated after a long journey and I forgot my wash bag but there was nothing in the bathroom. No hair dryer. Just stuff that doesn't cost very much but make a big difference. Anyway that's just my thoughts. X"

"Stayed for a long weekend. Cottage well appointed and very comfortable - loved the log burner! Pub/ restaurant next door ( very nice) is owned by the same people and they were on hand should they be needed. Cottage is well situated for getting out and about exploring Shropshire and North Wales. Both bedrooms have en-suite wet rooms. Showers were great but we all felt that the shower screens in both rooms were inadequate as they didn't contain the water within the shower area resulting in wet floors hence the reason for downgrading the comfort/ equipment category. Perhaps replacing the screens with longer, floor length ones would solve the problem."
