"Oh dear oh dear where to start? First impressions - a house unloved, filthy windows both inside and particularly outside (spiders and all) and an unkempt hedge. Enter into what is a stunning space spoiled by the saggy, uncomfortable, grimy sofas.Any sign of a welcome? No, not even soap in the loo. Even a budget hotel manages a basic welcome. And so to bed - the single bed bases in the second en suite bedroom are so saggy and uncomfortable that our daughter had to move the mattress onto the floor in this "home away from home"We were expecting some activity as it is a working estate but when I tried to spend a day in the house while my husband and daughter went hillwalking the noise was horrendous and all day long. I may as well have been sitting in the barn which is higher than the cottage and stands about five or six metres away from the windows. The cottage itself is an old building and was once part of a courtyard which now has a monstrosity of a new barn filling the middle of it. Unfortunately all the downstairs windows except one face the barn with no views of the open countryside as portrayed. The outside space is a good place to sit and have a cup of tea or glass of wine but is no place for children to play. The proximity of large heavy machinery makes it totally unsuitable for children. There is a very loud clicking which appears to come from in the wall behind the double bed when the heating comes on.Apart from the windows and sofas being dirty, there were also hairs and fluff on the bed side table in the second bedroom, nuts under the coffee table, cobwebs on the ceiling, dust on the skirting boards and the top of the fridge freezer hasn't been cleaned in a long while.A sign on the wall asks you to keep the place clean but apart from a couple of cloths and some washing up liquid there is nothing else."

"The cottage is perfectly located, very cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a real get away from it all holiday. Newtonmore is a wonderful village with very helpful and friendly locals and the nearby walks through the glen and alongside the river and gorge are spectacular. Great days out were on the doorstep or within a 90 minute drive with amazing scenery wherever you go. It was my 50th birthday and Diane and Rod very kindly gave me a bottle of fizz and extra dining chairs as we had friends over for dinner one evening.....this was above and beyond and extremely thoughtful. We cannot wait to go back. The roll top bath is a very special treat too. Loved every second and miss being there very much."

"The cottage was big and spacious, and the lady who takes care of the property was lovely and helpful. We felt that the cottage was particularly dated and in need of a real deep clean, much of the fixtures were coming to the end of their life potentially and the cottage was not particularly well equipped compared to others we have stayed in.Suggestions - more glasses / children's plastic plates and cups / please fence of and secure part of the lovely large garden, as we couldn't use it safely with 3 kids under 5 / Some info and leaflets about the local area and attractions was sorely missed...we couldn't get any signal to get online and google stuff ourselves so this would have been very useful / Get wifi!!!"

"We had a wonderful time at Allt Beag. Very spacious, cosy and well equipped cottage in superb surroundings. We were a group of 2 families with children, allowing the kids to play in the river and the woods near the house, having the necessary privacy for each family when needed while at the same time being able to share fantastic moments together in the big living room. Excellent location to explore the Scottish Highlands. Very friendly and helpful housekeeper Audra. Would have been great if the hot tub were up and running again! Bit of a disappointment when we arrived, but this didn't spoil the fun."

"The previous reviews are correct about this cottage, the side of the cottage faces a barn, the heating is quirky, so is the cottage but it is set in lush, glorious, peaceful countryside with plenty of walking and cycling both on the estate exluding the country house and lots of quiet roads round about with scenic delights. If you like watching dear, red squirrel, raptors and other wildlife this is your place and it is located about two fields or so from a village with shop and cafe and nice outside seating. It is a working farm but you really get away from it all."
