There has been a market in this town since the 13th century and if you’re there on a Wednesday don’t miss the weekly stalls where you can find all manner of goodies. In the spring and summer, you can visit the intriguing independent museum which is run by the Local History Society. Obviously, with the Cotswolds at your feet, there is plenty of countryside to explore and various walks to enjoy. Don’t miss the excellent fish and chips either.

"The cottage was perfect for us and was well equipped generally. Slight issue with only enough coal for one small fire and having an open fire was one of the reasons we rented this cottage in particular. We had brought logs but its a coal only fireplace and we arrived late on Christmas eve so nowhere nearby to buy any for a few days. We did find a petrol station open and with coal on Christmas Day near Oxford in the end! It wasn't a huge deal and very specific to the time we went because normally the Post Office sells it apparently. Besides this small gripe everything was great. The kitchen is very well equipped and the conservatory space was great for Christmas meals with every small thing catered for, even candles. We had snow while we were there and it was beautiful all around, the horses in the field opposite were great to watch. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the good size family bathroom was a great bonus. It may need mentioning somewhere that there is no toilet on the ground floor and when my elderly father visited us it was tricky getting him up the stairs. Brian checked we had everything we needed and was responsive throughout our stay, many thanks.I would definitely recommend this cottage to others and would book again and we have rented a lot of cottages in this area ( nearby family to visit). Thank you!!"

"This cottage is the best self catering accomodation we have probably ever stayed in. Jonathan and Jane have created the perfect place for any couple just wanting to "get away from it all". It is a small converted stable but plenty of room to not feel claustrophobic. Very well equipped, exceptionally clean, VERY comfortable bed and lovely monsoon shower in bathroom over a very big bath. Jane goes the extra mile by providing a welcome pack - ours was a lovely board with two cheeses, figs, oat biscuits and some little home made brownies - she had also supplied a pint of milk. Jonathan and Jane are the perfect hosts as they do not intrude but made it very clear they were at hand if we needed them. The icing on the cake with this wonderful cottage is the hot tub!! Big enough for four people (so plenty of room for just two) it was the perfect end to a day out to come back and use this fabulous facility. Jonathan maintains it every day so you know that it is clean and has appropriate levels of chemicals in it.I would not hesitate in highly recommending this cottage to anyone - but hope not too many people book it as intend to go back next year!"

"The Cottage is in a lovely location. It has a well equipped kitchen with a lovely large conservatory and a nice cosy open fire in the living room. We had a problem due to the previous guest breaking the only double bed in the property, which meant we then had to sleep on the mattress on the floor for out first night. Owner was apologetic, but I wasn’t very impressed with just being given a bottle of wine as compensation. Not paying for part of that first night, or the whole night, I think would have meant a lot more. If you enjoy a shower, I’m afraid you won’t get one here, with only one shower available, it has no power at all, it just tickles, you will get a better shower from the garden hose pipe. There is parking at the property, but if you are not a confident driver you may have trouble getting onto the drive, it is very tight to swing onto the drive from the little lane, with the added gravel gradient to also contend with."

"Charming old cottage , full of vintage style books, toys and pictures. Excellent heating system kept the cottage warm so we didn't need to light the fire. It has all the necessities in the kitchen, though much of the crockery etc is a little dated. The living room is lovely but let down by tired and worn furniture and carpet. Upstairs is good , bedrooms have comfy beds and modern bedding and are nicely decorated Bathroom is spacious but the shower in the attic room is a bit hit and miss and rather tight for space. We were unlucky with the weather so the parking and getting in and out of the car was very muddy and the rough narrow area to park on would benefit from widening and having stone chippings laid. The area is beautiful with loads to do and plenty of places to visit, Blenheim Palace being our favourite. Overall we enjoyed our stay."

"Beautiful cottage with fantastic conservatory and garden. Loft room accessed through main bedroom which was fine for our children. No shower for adults: there is a small shower in loft bedroom with low water pressure- fine for a young only. There is a hose from the bath taps to wash hair but bending over the bath not ideal as an adult. So, baths each morning. We had issues with the fridge which kept cutting out and we had to push a chair in front of the freezer door to keep it closed. However, we thought the price we paid for this cottage out of season was very good and meant such quibbles were easy to accept. It is in a lovely location with a well stocked kitchen. Yes, TV is tiny but again, a small compromise when paying less out of season."
