"The cottage was easy to find and in a good location. We were disappointed to be greeted with a request for a £150 deposit on arrival at the pub, which is where we collected the keys. There was no explanation as to what this was for and when we found a nasty burn mark on the carpet in one of the bedrooms I felt the need to photograph it and call back into the pub to report it. Whilst I have stayed in properties on occasion that have asked for deposits they have always been fully explained and itineraries provided. This led to us feeling a little uneasy all week wondering if our money would be refunded back after we left. All there was indicating this deposit was required was a one liner in the description at the bottom of the notes and not clear how it would be imposed? The money has been refunded, but I would say for future reference this should be explained when booking the property and not on the day of arrival, so there are no surprises. Once settled into the cottage, whilst everything is nice and new we found the atmosphere a little impersonal and sterile probably because of its newness. Everything worked properly, although instructions for appliances were a little scattered about and I put them all together in the folder. There was also little information about things to do in the local area, but we had the internet so were able to look things up to see where to go and what was open. We did find that we ran out of cutlery regularly, particularly the tea spoons as there were only 5. There was also nothing to put any food in to heat things up in the microwave, so we ended up just using the crockery. This meant we put the dishwasher on more regularly and did think it would've been more of a problem if there'd been more of us as we were only 2. We enjoyed the view of the ducks and brook running along the front of the cottage from the bedroom window, but did struggle with the very large blind which bowed in the middle when lifted and we were worried it may break under the weight. It didn't, but something to look at to perhaps reinforce for the future? Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and the surrounding countryside was stunning with exceptional autumnal colours for the season. A great base to see Derbyshire at its best."

"More attention to detail is needed when cleaning, particularly in the storage area in loft bedroom and the loft bathroom. Bed linen has seen better days. Some kitchen utensils sticky and baking trays definitely seen better days. Table mats sticky and dirty. The grass needed cutting which made it unpleasant to sit in the garden. No welcome pack so beware if you are arriving late. Stairs are very steep and there is no toilet on ground floor. Steps into front door very steep although it is easier to go in the back door. Designated car parking space was apparently repaired on our last day however there is still a dip on driving into it and there are lots of pot holes. You either have to reverse in or out and along a long narrow road. You cannot see the car from the cottage. There is parking on the road however which is a safer bet.Good information packs available about surrounding areas with places to visit, walks, etc.Good base to visit this beautiful part of the country if the cleaning issues are dealt with, in a lovely little village with lots of local amenities and lovely walks."

"Fabulous stay at the wonderful S16576. Both bedrooms were very nice and spacious as was the bathroom with its roll top bath and separate shower cubicle. The living area was spacious with a lovely log burner and stone fireplace and the spiral staircase adds a touch of the unusual to it. The large farmhouse kitchen has everything you could need and the small enclosed courtyard area has seating and a bbq. We also bought fresh eggs from next door and the welcome bottle of wine was much appreciated and a lovely touch. The scenery in the area is stunning and we found it easy to walk with our dogs to the nearest pub just over a quarter of a mile away as a local told us about going through the wood opposite which comes out a few yards away from the house so no need to walk down the main road that has no path. The only downside for us could have been the noisy traffic as the bedrooms back onto a busy main road but we just bought some earplugs and the noise was gone. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely recommend it to anyone! Hope to come back again."

"Please do not hesitate to book this cottage for your holiday. It was very clean on our arrival, very spacious and we were happy to stay there. The cottage is near to a supermarket and a few minutes further walk to other shops. Try the Millennium Walkway just up the road. If you have small dog then the garden/parking area is not secure, we had to keep our dog on his lead out there as he could have gone through the bottom of the gates. The cottage is on the main road but this did not matter as we were not disturbed by the traffic at all. We were a party of two adults and two children, one a teenager and one nearly a teenager. They loved the fact they had a lounge for themselves. Not clear from the description but the main bedroom has a shower and washbasin, this was a bonus, no toilet but not far to the main bathroom. The wet room downstairs had a toilet and washbasin, this room was large. Thanks to everyone for a great stay. Really recommend this cottage"

"My family and I had a lovely time wandering around the peaks next to S25068 cottage. The cottage was very well equipped and we had a very nice fire in the wood burner on the last day as the weather became cooler. (we brought our own logs and kindling with us to continue the fire as there is a starter set only) We took our dog, a small Springer, with us. I made sure she was always cleaned off before she entered the living room after having been out. There were a lot of steep stairs so I would not recommend anyone to stay in this cottage if they have issues with mobility. Also in the small garden area, it is a tiny yard which is accessible to other households and there are steps leading up to a small grass area with a table. All in all, we had a few wonderful days staying at this cottage, it was quirky and just in the right place for many walks to the peaks, only a few minutes walk to the town of hayfield, pubs and local shops to buy provisions from."
