"The toilet in the downstairs bathroom could only be used by holding the toilet seat up and sitting sideways. The shower head upstairs needed to be deep cleaned before we could use it. There was no mirror in the double bedroom so used the single front bedroom which walls were in need of decorating. The step up and down from the landing into the single rooms were dangerous and the banister was coming away from the top of the stairs. When we booked the cottage our only stipulation was that the cottage took two small dogs and had an enclosed garden. The small stone walled back yard with no flowers is not a garden with the smell of overflowing bins. The lounge lamp no bulb or spare the ceiling light contained cobwebs and the microwave you could write your name on the dust on the top of it. As for spending quality time in the cottage we only had our breakfast on our knees in the lounge as the kitchen chairs were marked with whatever as was the back door and handle which we cleaned before we could open . We did not leave any of these details in the visitors book so as not to dishearten any future holidaymakers. We enjoyed our holiday in Northumberland as it was a well earned break but it could have been a great holiday if we had stayed in a welcoming home."

"We have spent many holidays in Rothbury, using it as a base to stock up on provisions and choosing to travel by car to explore the vast county of Northumbria.S80461 was an ideal location, being just on the outskirts of Rothbury, high on a hill with uninterrupted views of breathtaking countryside. It is set away from the farm itself and so is not overlooked.Janice is a welcoming host. She left us milk, tea, coffee and cake so that we were able to chill before starting our unpacking. She visited to welcome us and came to say goodbye at the end of our stay. The cottage itself exceeded our expectation. It was spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard with new appliances and all the equipment we required.During our week we visited various parts of Hadrians Wall, a number of castles including Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, Brinkburn Priory down the road from the cottage, and Howick Hall. We also visited the harbour at Amble, and the beach at Durridge Bay.We ate out too and there are lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and pubs around. We particularly liked the Three Wheat Heads at Thopton and the tea room at Howick Hall."

"S34757 was a lovely place to stay.OVER All: The holiday let was freshly decorated and had everything and more that we could ever need.Decor: Really lovely. You could tell the owner put time and thought into this house.Living room: Big and comfortable with television.Dining room: Great and also had 2 large comfy chairs for watching television or listening to music. This became our 'go to' room.Kitchen: Fantastic. Everything I might need from good pans to white goods and all in great condition! So refreshing to find this.Equipment: We had a bit of trouble trying to turn the heating system off at the times we didn't need it. Also, we'd like to see the actual bath/shower freshened up a bit. Bathroom was fine.Cleanliness: Very clean.Location: Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. Perfect. The cottage was on a quiet street, Just a short walk from the beach front. Near shops and restaurants. We never had to drive more than 30 minutes to get to lovely Northumberland highlights for a day out. There's so much to see. We'd definitely recommend and we'll return some time."

"After looking for somewhere to stay whilst working away, and spending lots of time in hotels. I noticed S14501 whilst searching and was surprised to see the price was around the same as hotels near by. Being Vegan I always struggle to find hotels that can provide me with food I can eat, so being able to cook my own food was a massive plus. The kitchen was well equipped for cooked although some of the utensils needed cleaning before use. The cottage was very spacious and the bedrooms and bathroom very clean. The living space could have been cleaner as lots of crumbs and old food on the carpets and under the sofas. Very close to a local Asda and other shops, so nipping out to pick up anything was easy. Overall I had a very good experience at S14501. The minor cleanliness issue twinned with the heating not being on for my arrival which left the house very cold for the first night, are the only issues I have. I would definitely stay here again."

"The cottage's decor is very dated and needs an upgrade. We didn't like the hostile notices stuck up all over the place telling us not to do this and not to do that! Of all the cottages we've stayed in over the years, this is the first one where there wasn't a welcome pack, not even a small bottle of milk or a few tea bags was available on arrival. When we've stayed in Cornwall/Devon scones, jam, cream and a bottle of wine/cider was provided along with tea/coffee, milk so the customer relations for this cottage needs some work!We were also unsure what the extra money we had to leave on the table was for as we didn't use the pool and you would expect the lighting in the car park to be included. We were also absolutely astonished that there was no WiFi as it hadn't occurred to us that there wouldn't be!The only good thing was the view from the lounge over the harbour and the cottage's close location to the village."
