"The location of this property is why I would recommend it. A two minute walk to the train station & then a very short 15/20 minute journey into central London, makes this a great place to stay on the outskirts, if you want to spend your days sightseeing in London. Winchmore Hill itself has some great dining pubs & restaurants. The cottage itself, although very quaint, isn't very practical as a space to come back to relax in, which is the downside. It feels very formal & is over packed with unnecessary old furniture and knick knacks. It feels more like staying in a B&B or an older Aunts house. The stairs are extremely steep & the kitchen is on the first floor with the bedrooms which makes it difficult to cook anything & then bring it downstairs to eat. There is no DVD player & not enough comfortable sofa's to relax on an evening. The bedrooms don't have proper wardrobes so be prepared to literally live out of your case. Clean & tidy, but not practical for a family."

"lovely cottage and fabulous hosts, with everything we could need. Close to Ebbsfleet for a day trip to Brussels which was excellent, though I would recommend booking your tickets as far in advance as you can to get the best price, I paid £85 return for each of us, but have to say it was well worth it. To help getting around buy 24hr underground tickets when you get there as this lets you go all over the city. We would recommend getting the metro to Brosse and going to the Grand Place, include a visit to Hard Rock Café in the corner of the Place. Close to the A2 & M20 with so much to do in the area. Dover Castle is a definite recommend as are the war time tunnels, though be warned there is quite a bit of walking."

"As we took our two dogs it was well positioned next to the country park for walks and exercise. I failed to notice there was no enclosed area for them on the details. The barn conversion is cute but the white wooden floor boards are noisy and with gravel drive entering into the barn this was a challenge to keep clean. Decorated in a charming way particularly if you had 2 small children to sleep in the cupboard room which had fairy lights. I do not think it is suitable for dogs. Well positioned for London. Very pretty position but not sure what it would be like in the summer being right next to the horses and with limited ventilation. This is a central cottage of 3 and beware that the walls are very thin."

"The cottage is lovely, the bed was so comfortable and the amenities were brilliant, the location was beautiful, just a few yards from a beautiful country park and some wonderful walks with my jack Russel, the owner was a great host and couldn’t do enough for us, the cottage is joined with 2 others and you all share a delightful courtyard which is enclosed, it’s just off the beaten track but only 5 minutes away from local shopping and restaurants so not too rural, just right really we had lovely bank holiday weather which made our stay even more enjoyable, we would definitely go back again and I would highly recommend anyone to give lavender cottage a try , you won’t be disappointed!!"

"The purpose of our visit was to visit an elderly relative nearby. In that respect the cottage was ideal. The location in the Langdon Hills was lovely and perfect for walking the dog with walks literally on the doorstep. The accommodation is good for 2 adults - the mezzanine sleeping area is really only suitable for children as there is limited headroom. In terms of facilities, the cottage needs updating to bring it up the standards we expect. We were fortunate to have quiet neighbours for the majority of our stay but on the last few nights we were kept awake - poor soundproofing! There is no DVD as advertised."
