"We arrived at S21696 on Monday the 22nd of August. The property is situated at the end of a single track road about one and a half miles long. The final approach is along a short lane which is passable.......The property is extremely well finished inside and it is clear that a lot of effort has gone into the refurbishment. We found the accommodation to be clean and very comfortable. The owner, Doug, showed us around the property and everything was ready for our arrival. His explanation of how the heating timer worked was confusing.......I guess that would partly explain how we ran out of hot water one day.The owners had provided a cake when we arrived. That was a nice touch and Doug later provided a jar of his honey which was kind of him. We asked if we could use the barbeque while we were there. We were told that it could be arranged but that it would need to be cleaned first. The cottage description does say that there is a barbeque available. In the end, we felt that the request for the barbeque was not very well received so we decided against using it. In fairness, Doug had cleaned the barbeque by the time we returned from our day out. He seemed a little upset when we said that we no longer wished to use it. When we departed on the Friday, Stella (Doug's wife) also asked if we'd used the barbeque. It was clear that she was aware that we had not used it. It was a very trivial thing to cause an atmosphere about. I don't feel that we did anything wrong but the bad attitude, as a result, was not welcome. We were paying guests, after all. This is a very well presented and cared for property. However, for us, the major detraction was the proximity of the owner's property. We were looking for a quiet and private break. The property is detached but is immediately adjacent to the owners' home. from the entrance of their home, there was a view directly into the property. We felt that we needed to keep the curtains closed on that side of the property all the time we were there. I think that this fact should be added to the owners' description. For this reason, we would not stay at this property again."

"Had a lovely week staying at S33771. The decor is absolutely stunning - all done in accents of black, white, grey and silver with splashes of red in a couple of the bedrooms. Very tasteful and modern, yet in an old fashioned house. The kitchen was lovely - it had the same cooker as I have, so I knew what I was doing straight away! - but the instruction manuals were left for all of the household appliances, right down to the hairdryer in the ensuite! We found the garden a little bit difficult to get up to - the steps are very steep - so I maybe wouldn't recommend it for elderly people, small children or people with mobility problems, although the garden itself was lovely with a great view of Llansteffan. If you're not bothered about going in the garden though, don't let this put you off!Similarly, the spiral staircase up to the attic was a bit tricky to negotiate, but I suspect little kids would love it!The ensuite and the main bathroom were both gorgeous - there's a walk-in cubicle shower in the ensuite for anyone with mobility issues - and an over-bath shower in the bathroom. The house also has the nicest outside toilet I've ever seen! The lounge was very comfy with a nice big TV, and the wifi was phenomenal! (A massive bonus as we had no mobile signal on O2 in the whole village!)As we had a dog, we didn't eat out in the village a lot, but we did try Florrie's Fish 'n' Chips at the beach, and these were gorgeous and the staff were lovely, even giving us a partial refund because the cod they had were smaller than usual! The staff and customers were also lovely in the village shop, although it only stocks the basics. The nearest supermarket is about a fifteen minute drive away, although there's a Spar in nearby Johnstown. We did find the house a little bit chilly when we first arrived, but this could have been because no-one was staying in it the week before. All in all we had a lovely time at S33771. I would definitely recommend it."

"S21696 was a cosy, well-furnished property that ticked all the boxes for us during our short break in Wales. On arrival we were greeted by Doug and Stella who were both friendly and welcoming. We were briefly shown around the property by Doug, given all the information we required and then left to get ourselves settled. Stella was kind enough to bake a cake for our arrival and it was simply delicious and a very nice touch. We used S21696 as a quiet retreat and a base for exploring the local area and the surrounding Brecon Beacons. The property was situated in a fantastic spot with lots of local sights and castles to visit. Travel a little further and you can also visit some beautiful coastal towns and the main city of Swansea if you wish. The property itself was extremely well finished and had a very warm and modern feel to it. We actually felt that the images we saw when booking didn't do this property justice -it was even nicer in person! Everything within the property worked as it should, and we remained warm and comfortable throughout our stay. The log burner is a lovely addition this property. Doug and Stella are fantastic hosts who provided us with all the space and privacy we could have asked for. They were extremely helpful when providing information about local walks and sights. Just a small note - I drive a performance car which is close to the ground and I did find the uneven track leading to the property a tricky one to navigate. The car coped and was not damaged, but it did require a slow and cautious approach. This no way detracts from the property or the holiday we enjoyed, I just thought it might be worth a mention for future visitors. We would highly recommend S21696 to all our friends and family, and have even considered returning ourselves next year!A big thanks again to Doug and Stella."

"My wife and I loved it as it was an area I grew up in 30+ years ago, beautiful part of the country. Teenage daughter thought the cottage was haunted so spoilt her week of sleep :) and the spiders .... well there were quite a few! :)The lounge\dining area wasn't very clean, sand/mud/dust on the floor and dog hair everywhere, blankets on the sofas and chairs in particular and the beds weren't made up either as linen was still wet, so after a 8 hour journey could have done without hoovering through and making the beds up. The sofa in particular is really dirty, you can't see it until you sit on it in light/white clothing and the dirt transfers onto your clothes, my wife baby wiped the chair and the muck that came off .... not great but other than that.. super! The kitchen is fab everything and anything you need in there and the view from the cottage is superb. Only thing i would say is the the 'shower over the bath' reads as though it is a shower in the bath, like most folk have in there bathrooms, not a shower head that sits on the taps and you have to hold to have a shower/rinse off! That was a bit of a pain having to sit in the bath to have a shower! :)"

"A beautifully renovated cottage - comfortable and well-equipped. We have stayed in a lot of holiday cottages and this has to be the most stylish! The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and care into the cottage and we were made very welcome by Huw. The property is on a steep bank, which may present difficulties for some guests. However, the view from the garden made negotiating the steep steps outside worthwhile and our 15 year old son found no problems with the spiral staircase inside to reach his generous bedroom in the very top of the house. Our teenagers were also impressed with the great wifi - no complaints there! The location was great for us - just a 5 minute walk to the beach and the local amenities, including a friendly pub serving good, reasonably priced food. Llansteffan is a lovely village with very friendly locals. There are beautiful walks and scenery and Carmarthen is within easy reach. We had a fabulous week at S33771 and look forward to returning soon."
