"My wife, my dog & I recently stayed at S18378. We booked it as it was in a great location for Kielder Forest, the Lake District & Hadrians Wall. We were not disappointed with the location & visited all 3 quite easily. It was about an hour to the Lake District & a little more for the Kielder Forest & Hadrians Wall is about 15 minutes away.Initially our first impression of S18378 was excellent. It was cosy & comfortable looking. The kitchen was small but fairly well equipped, the lounge was again cosy with plenty of soft seating and the bedroom was spacious. However there were only 5 coat hangars provided so we had no choice but to put everything in drawers. Luckily creased clothes are not an issue when out walking. The bathroom was another story! The shower is the worst I have ever witnessed. On occasion, we could not even get it to switch on as the water pressure was so minimal & the shower would not activate. If the shower did switch on then the water temperature was intermittent depending on the flow of water through the unit. The first time I "texted" the owners to let them know that it was not working, they replied quickly & tried to assist but my other time I texted them we were ignored. The towels that are provided are inadequate. They were so small they did not even wrap around the body . In addition if the website states "towels provided" then we assumed there would also be some for the hot tub. Luckily we took a dog towel that we were able to use!The hot tub was a great way to relax in the evenings after a hard days walking and the temperature was wonderful. The cottage was not the cleanest but being on a working farm this was understandable but if someone wants a spotless place to stay this would not be the best place for them.Overall we had a good week & we hate to sound negative but just a few improvements could have made a big difference."

"First time visiting Cumbria and the location was ideal. New sofas which were brilliant and a new bed. Tea, coffee and sugar also available but no milk!! Maybe the little catering milk cartons would be a welcome addition as we had intentions of taking milk but forgot it. Few little niggles such as no instructions on how to use the dishwasher, cooker and hot tub which we got around by asking the owner about the hot tub. Also parking permits no explanation on how they operate which we found out was a disc parking pass for visiting Brampton. A few instructions on how to use these kind of things would be great. The biggest problem we found was the bed. The mattress had no support and you could feel every spring and when you moved the whole bed moved which resulted in disturbed sleep. Maybe a mattress topper would solve this problem a bit. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and would visit again"

"We loved our holiday at S18378, however it was very secluded and depending on where you wanted to go it could take anything between 30-40minutes car drive. It is worth mentioning that it’s best if you bring the essentials with you, bread, milk and other food items. Bottled water is a must as the S18378’s water source comes from a local spring which isn’t filtered or purified. The fault is modern and comfortable and has a real homely feel. The hot tub is an added bonus and adds to the relaxation of being in the middle of nowhere on a working farm with nature. We didn’t get much of a mobile phone signal or internet signal, so if you prefer to be glued to your mobile phone S18378 isn’t for you. We had a little difficulty find S18378 but a quick call or two to Jane quickly rectified that. We would definitely come back, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but towards the end we missed civilisation."

"We really enjoyed this after a stressful year. The location was stunning and absolutely perfect and private! The cottage was gorgeous with everything that could be needed and the icing was the hot tub which was enjoyed au naturel lots of times! It was beautifully situated just outside the back door and easy to enjoy any hour of the day or night. The location is great for Hadrian's Wall which was a nostalgic return after 15 years and very special for me after completing an MA in Classical Studies. We also incursioned into the Lake District and Scotland. Back to the cottage there is everything you could want (perhaps an extra tea towel or two would be useful) and the decor was lovely and tasteful. I recommend taking extra towels for the hot tub. We shall, all being well definitely be returning. It's a gorgeous little bolthole. Ideal for two who want to get away into stunning countryside."

"This cottage could be a lovely let but it suffers, I suspect, from the owners, who only live next door, never having stayed in it.The kitchen is very poorly equipped - no promised washing machine, no bread board, poor knives, no coffee pot or cafetière, no iron etc.The yard at the back is scruffy and largely overlooked by the neighbours. The rooms face onto the street and their is no privacy. Simple privacy blinds would solve it.I was asked on booking if I was staying for work and I confirmed I was. Despite repeated requests to secure internet access the owners provided me with an account and password that did not work and then simply ignored my requests. The place is well presented but I challenge any one to sit on the furniture for any length of time, especially in hot weather. This is an opportunity missed."
