"One problem was that when running bath both en-suite showers cut off, quite annoying when 3 people trying to get ready at same time. Description for cottage read that logs were provided for stove, which I assumed was for whole of stay, but only one basket provided, also glass on stove not clean.!!! Needs bath mat in bath as those\ of us tended to slipthe children enjoyed immensely hide and seek. the garden was ideal. large and safe for kids and dog. There are lots of places to visit and nice places to eat in easy driving distances. We loved our week spent here recently. We had family coming together from different parts of the UK and were looking for a large enough house to fit us all in (12) whilst still being a nice place to stay. Being a converted pub, this house has a really quirky layout to it which we loved. It feels like the house just keeps ongoing. With various rooms (kitchen/diner, dining room, snug, living room) there is plenty of space to spread out. The house is very well kitted out, with everything you could need in the kitchen for cooking your own meals for the week, loads of cupboard and surface space, a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, washing line, etc. Eating all together can be a bit tricky as both the kitchen/diner and the dining room fit one table really well, but to have all 12 of us together we put them both in the kitchen and it was perfect for conversation and spending time together but made movement around the room a little tricky and you had to make sure you had everything you might need out of the cupboards before sitting down - but if the weather is good there is ample outdoor seating. The garden is large and fully enclosed, with 3 swings also. It was perfect for having children and I can see how it would work well with pets too. One thing I would note if you are visiting with small children was the lack of stair gate - we overcame this by taking a travel stair barrier with us and that fit up fine. I'd definitely recommend this property if you are looking for something that is a little out of the way (it has beautiful views) but close enough to plenty of activities that you can easily find lots to do with people of all ages. The garden was large with outdoor seating, and child and dog friendly so everyone was catered for. And the weather was excellent too, though I suspect that doesn't always come with the booking! The key-holder was very welcoming and lived nearby should we have needed to contact her. Highly recommended."

"My family & dog have just returned from a 3 night break over the bank holiday. We ended up at Post Office Cottage because the original property we booked through 'Sykes cottages' cancelled on us 2 days before departure due to an apparent faulty shower. What a result that we found this beautiful cottage! We had never stayed in this part of Cumbria before so wasn't sure how it would be. It was lovely! Such stunning scenery & pure peace, just what we needed. Loved watching the tiny lambs coming right up to the back garden fence! The owners were great & arranged with the lovely housekeeper next door to expect us late on the Friday night so they had the cottage cosy & warm for when we finally arrived! For 2 of the nights we got the lounge log burner going, incredible amount of heat that comes off it for such a long time too, and we had an abundance of logs/coal & fire lighters, it was gorgeous on the very cold evenings! I had read a review about someone being upset at having an electric heating allowance. Personally we had no issues at all, we had heaters on when needed (our daughters bedroom constantly) & were never cold once! I guess it just comes down to individual heating needs. I think the allowance is more for people to be aware & not to forget to switch electric heaters down/off when going out etc (like we would at home). It's always a challenge finding a luxury cottage that accept pets too without paying massively over the odds, but this cottage provides it perfectly. It's been very well thought out with the design, loved the dog crate, blanket & bowl provided! The only extra it didn't have was wifi. This is of course not something everyone needs, but for us it was vital for our lifestyle. The owner confirmed she was having it put in the following week so once it's in it will be absolute perfection of a cottage. Really enjoyed our break and can highly recommend!"
