New Years Eve ideas for couples, families and groups
Have a banging New Year's Eve!
Get yourselves outside at midnight and celebrate with some sparklers or fireworks to welcome 2018! Just make sure you don’t set them off in a public place or continue your display past 1am to avoid getting in any trouble. With a bit of planning your display is sure to rival the one in central London! 😉
OMG, someone has been murdered! 🕵️
And now it is up to you and your friends to work out whodunnit! If you’re going away for a few days to celebrate the arrival of the new year what could be better than going all in on a murder mystery one evening? For extra authenticity we recommend allocating characters in advance so that people can purchase costumes and rehearse their back stories. Have fun solving the crime and good luck catching the murderer!
Order your groceries
Whatever your supermarket of choice, the chances are that they’ll offer a delivery service so that your food & drink can arrive shortly after you do. You can plan your menu in advance and avoid having to squeeze a shop into your car already full of suitcases and other holiday supplies. If you fancy a treat you could try Heartier; they offer meat, cheese, charcuterie and chocolate from some of the UK’s finest suppliers. Use the code ‘snaptrip‘ to get £15 off a £50 spend!
There are so many to choose from we suggest you take a whole suitcase of them with you! We’ve asked for favourites here at Snaptrip HQ and came up with these:
- Scrabble (absolute classic)
- Cranium (who doesn’t love making modelling clay figures?!)
- Solar Trader (although you won’t get much change from £50 on eBay!)
- Risk (the older the board you’ve got the better)
Invite your friends
Some cottages just sleep a family of four while others are big enough to fit your entire extended family or a group of all your mates. For NYE we recommend booking a large cottage and filling it with your nearest and dearest. We’ve even got an ex-hotel that sleeps 48 people if you’re that popular.
Become an amateur mixologist
There’s still time to learn a new skill before the end of 2017 so why not try to pick something to impress your friends? It might be a bit late to go from zero to hero when it comes to guitar, unicycling or painting but we think learning how to make some mind blowing cocktails in time for New Year’s Eve is very doable. Book yourself on a course or hit YouTube and learn to shake it like the best of ’em!
