There’s a lot to do this April. The clocks have gone forward, the evenings are finally lighter and, despite some recent cold weather, spring is making itself known. With longer days and warmer weather coming our way, April is a promising time to get out and try something new in the UK. There are dozens of excellent events to choose from cross the UK this April; here is a selection of the best.
Porthleven Food & Music Festival
This food & music festival in Cornwall will be taking place from 20th -22nd April. It’s a three day festival of fun which will bring tens of thousands of people together. Held in and around Porthleven harbour there will be food stalls, street food and chefs theatres. There will also be plenty of music as well as day and night entertainment.
Edinburgh International Science Festival
For some educational fun, head over to Edinburgh for the International Science Festival. From 31st March – 15th April, this festival will be exploring the theme, Life the Universe and Everything. It was originally started back in 1989 ‘to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the world around them’ and continues to do so today.
Cardiff Flower Show
If horticulture is more your thing, then the Cardiff Flower Show is the place to be this April. Taking place from 13th – 15th April, this is the Royal Horticultural Society’s first major outdoor show of the year. If you want to learn something new, meet the experts or simply soak up the verdant atmosphere, this is the perfect event.
The Grand National; a famous event which draws people in from far and wide. This year why not see it for yourself and head up to Liverpool for the 12th – 14th April. Put your best foot forward for a couple of days of world class horse racing. Whether you’re clued up on the horses, or are simply in it for a fun day out, the atmosphere is sure to be buzzing.
Stratford Literary Festival
The Stratford Literary Festival will be taking place in Straford-upon-Avon from 22nd – 29th April. Most events will be taking place in the ArtsHouse and there will be workshops, a quiz night and various talks. There are plenty of events aimed at children too, so there will be something for all the family here.
