All across the country, there are counties and towns with their own calendar of amazing events and we think August is looking particularly good for Cornwall.

Boardmasters Surf, Skate & Music Festival
Best for: Live Music, Skateboarding & Surfing
Boardmasters is a music festival for surf lovers, beach babes and skate-fanatics alike. On the Cornish coast’s prized Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay, this festival is growing in popularity each year and it’s no surprise why.
The festival has hosted the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Alt J and Stormzy, as well as a whole load more musical delights. This laid-back musical festival extravaganza is hosted in Newquay, and is only 30 minutes’ drive from the spectacular Eden Project.

Cornwall Pride
Best for: Vibrant Atmospheres & Dazzling Costumes
Every year, Cornwall Pride takes a hold of the south west and hosts one of the biggest pride festivals in the country. From parades to parties to picnics, the festival will be celebrating diversity with a day of rainbow flags and fancy dress of all kinds.
The parade kicks off the festivity, before the fabulous Rainbow Fest takes over. Expect an afternoon to evening fiesta of games, face painting, street food, live music and much more. From lost gardens to paradise parks, the festival has loads of hidden events
which deserve to be explored. It’s hosted in a different city each year, and has previously been hosted in St Ives and Penzance.
Pentillie Castle & Estate BBQ Festival
Best for: The very best of Cornish cuisine.
Hosted at the beautiful Pentillie Castle & Estate, the PenGrillie BBQ Festival showcases the very best in Cornwall’s smokey, sizzling local food scene.
The fest combines street food, live music, grilling demonstrations, BBQ competitions and family friendly activities into one 11am-5pm time slot. So, come and experience classic Cornish pasties and other foods that make Cornwall such an amazing culinary county.
With the likes of the amazing Cornish BBQ Hut Company, Eat the Smoke, and Veg in a Box, you know you’ll be getting some great grub. You’ll also be able to explore the Pentillie Gardens and Castle grounds whilst you’re there!
British Firework Championships 2017
Best for: Unforgettable Fireworks
Fancy seeing something truly spectacular? Every year, the skies of Plymouth are set alight with exploding colour, dazzling patterns and all the sparkle of a grand firework display.
Who says you have to wait ’till bonfire night anyway? The British Firework Championships hosts competing companies vying to be crowned the greatest firework makers in the country. This makes for some of the best displays to be found in the world. So, grab a glass of Pimms and settle down to enjoy some of the most amazing fireworks you’ll have ever seen.
As the event is in Plymouth, we’d recommend checking out accommodation in the quaint town of St Austell which is only a short drive away.

Cornwall Folk Music Festival
Best for: Live Music, Folk & Independent Venues
Four days of folky fun are coming to Wadebridge, North Cornwall, this August. Held at the town hall and other locations across town, the festival is a great way to explore the town and experience some amazing live music.
The Cornwall Folk Music Festival brings national and international performers to Cornwall and showcases local talent to Cornish and visiting audiences alike. It’s been going for over 45 years now and hosts some of the biggest names in folk.
