As 2019 stretches out in front of us, the new year seems full of potential. It’s a time of year where many of us are thinking about new year’s resolutions, things we want to do and places we might want to visit. With travel in mind, we wanted to share the UK destinations the Snaptrip team are most excited about visiting next year. There’s a real mix of destinations that have made the list; from a city to National Parks.
Peak District Chosen by Josh
In 2019 I’m excited about visiting the Peak District. The real reason I’m going might be as a tag on so I can watch a football match relatively nearby, but having done some research the place looks amazing. From rolling hills to incredible lakesides, the most difficult thing is going to be deciding which areas we want to check out. Dovedale is currently leading the race as it looks particularly pretty. It’ll certainly be a change of pace from London or our more recent holidays in Marbella and Japan.
York Chosen by Joey
Shane, Basil the dog, and I will be packing our bags and visiting York in the new year, and we cannot wait! With the moors on your doorstep, we will be spoilt with the perfect combination of rustic isolated countryside to the hustle and bustle of the city. The best of both worlds for the three of us! Camera at the ready for the intimidating beauty of York Minster, and whilst the boys relax their feet and paws with a drink, I’ll head to shambles to amble about indulging in trinkets. Lastly, but certainly not least, we’ll round up our tour by rewarding ourselves with a lavish lunch at what is renowned as one of the number one restaurants in the WORLD – The Black Swan at Oldstead.
The New Forest Chosen by Sean
Now that I’m a parent to a young boy it heavily influences my holiday decision making. For example, I now factor in travel time far more than I did before because I want to minimise frustrated toddler tantrums. Additionally, when it comes to accommodation I know I’ll spend much more time in the living space and kitchen (eating in and staying in more). Also, it’s really important to have lots of activities nearby for both good and bad weather! One place that is ticking the boxes for me in 2019 is the New Forest. It’s under 2 hours drive for me, there are some great value spacious properties, and depending on exactly where we stay there are lots of options for things to do – and yes Peppa Pig World.
Scotland Chosen by Matt
I’ve recently rediscovered the joys of golf and some friends and I are planning an escape up to Scotland for a couple of days to play some golf up there, which I am very excited about! I’ve been to Pitlochry before for a wedding and I’ve been told there are some amazing courses around there so I think that’s where we’ll be starting. Thankfully there are hundreds of cottages and lodges in that region so there’ll be lots of options of places to stay and we’ll combine a few rounds of gold with some sightseeing and no doubt a bit of whiskey tasting!
Lake District Chosen by Mai
In 2019 I plan to visit the Lake District. The muse of some of the greatest authors and poets in English history; the Lake District has lost none of its inspiring wonder and beauty. It is a haven from the hustle and bustle of modern city living. With beautiful pastoral views come rain or shine, long winding walks and some of the best pub lunches in the land, what’s not to love? I’m packing my bags already!
