Have you been to Bournemouth?
This beautiful seaside spot is well known for attracting holidaymakers and sun seekers during the summer months. However, with the leaves turning and the nights drawing in, don’t go ruling out Bournemouth as a great staycation destination. Need convincing? Luckily our very own Head of Marketing has just returned from this summer-time spot and is ready to tell us why it’s an autumn gem in disguise…
Sean spent two nights in Bournemouth this November, looking for a burst of sea air and sandy beaches. Because let’s face it – the invigorating beauty of the sea is a welcome break from the city at any time of year. For Sean, Bournemouth had the added bonus of being less than two hours from his front door.
(For those of you who would love a weekend break but dread the thought of hours in the car; we have the perfect nifty tool for you here.)
The Undercliff Promenade featured heavily in Sean’s praises of his autumnal seaside staycation. “The sun made a welcome appearance though the clouds and it was such a crisp autumn day; the perfect walking weather. Oh, and the promenade was nicely filled with people enjoying the afternoon sun.” In the winter cyclists are welcome here too, so keep an eye out for them as you wander along.
Sean’s Top Tips for your Short Break to Bournemouth
- Wrap up warm and hit the beach. Even if you aren’t brave enough to venture into the waves, the wide sandy beach is lovely for a winter walk. The rainbow beach huts here are beautiful and will brighten up any overcast afternoon. Covertly check them out if you can, many are beautifully decorated with ‘beside the seaside’ decor.
- When you need some refreshment, pop into Espresso Kitchen. They have a verifiably delicious carrot cake and a decent flat white. If you need something more sustaining than coffee and cake, make sure you take a trip to Street Food Corner. Here you can grab food to takeaway, and will dishes inspired from across the world – you’re sure to find something to your tastes.
- We didn’t do it – but we saw plenty of them: Tandems. For group fun, rent a Bournemouth tandem bike and travel across the pier at a slightly different pace! Bournemouth based, these guys are the ones to go to – Front Hire Bike.
