The Most Anticipated UK Destinations for 2018

Isle of Skye Chosen by Magdalena

The place I most want to visit in 2018 is the Isle of Skye. I was scrolling down some amazing Instagram accounts, when I saw a picture of a place that looked as if taken from the Lord of the Rings. It appears this place, that could be confused for Norway or New Zealand, is right around the corner. The Isle of Skye is the second largest islands of the Inner Hebrides archipelago of Scotland. Its dramatic and beautiful landscape is made up of rocky slopes, juicy green fields and the dark blue of the lochs and surrounding sea. With a fascinating history of Viking settlements, it is right at the top of my travel bucket list.

The Most Anticipated UK Destinations for 2018

Cornwall Chosen by Alex

As a child I used to go to Cornwall for Easter every year but as I haven’t been for over a decade it is high time to pay a visit again in 2018. Seeing as my wife and daughters have never been to Cornwall I’d like to stay somewhere picturesque on the River Fal that still has good road links for exploring in the car. I’d like to take them on day trips to Trelissick or Trebah Gardens, the county town of Truro for a pasty, the fishing village of Mousehole and one of the dozens of pretty beaches dotted along the coast lines.

The Most Anticipated UK Destinations for 2018

Stratford -Upon-Avon Chosen by Caitlin

I’d like to visit a lot of places in the UK in 2018 that I haven’t yet been to, but I’m also planning to revisit Stratford-Upon-Avon as I have very fond memories of the town. I love anywhere with scenic walks, and the canal that loops around the town offers a really lovely place to walk, visit some of the quaint shops, or simply sit and enjoy the weather in summer. Being a writer, the Shakespeare’s Birthplace exhibition also interests me, so I’m looking forward to taking a trip there!

The Most Anticipated UK Destinations for 2018

Loch Ness Chosen by Mai

For me 2018 is all about exploring the UK and visiting places I’ve never been to. First on my hit list is Scotland, as rather shockingly I’ve never made it that far north before. My plan is to spend a couple of days this Spring in idyllic Loch Ness, which boasts some of the most spectacular views in the UK, fantastic hikes and a great restaurant scene. But let’s be honest, it’s all about Nessie! And I’m going to have to resist the temptation of my inner child to spend the whole trip poised by the Loch armed with my high res camera!

The Most Anticipated UK Destinations for 2018

The Gower Peninsula Chosen by Sean

I’m planning to go to the Gower Peninsula in 2018. The Gower Peninsula was picked because I’m going with a large group of 8 adults, and a little one, and it ticked all the boxes for our varied requirements. It’s great for walking, has a gorgeous coastline (with great looking beaches), plenty to see and do, it’s not too far a drive for us especially with the little one. Plus we assume there’s going to be some nice pubs! We haven’t quite picked our accommodation yet so that will probably be led by pubs / restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

The Most Anticipated UK Destinations for 2018

Bath Chosen by Elizabeth

In 2018, the place in the UK I would most like to visit is Bath. Rich in history and culture, Bath not only looks beautiful in pictures thanks to its glorious architecture but has been awarded a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Part of its charm and one of Bath’s main tourist attractions is the Roman baths which have been well preserved since 70AD and were voted Britain’s most romantic buildings making it even more perfect for a couples weekend away. I’m also looking forward to browsing Bath’s independent and vintage shops to find something truly unique and hope to enjoy a romantic meal in Bath with a view of the beautiful Georgian stonework.

The Most Anticipated UK Destinations for 2018

The Cairngorms Chosen by Harriet

The UK destination I’m most excited about visiting in 2018 is the Cairngorms, Scotland. This stunning National Park is the largest in Britain and has a reputation for drawing lovers of the great outdoors from far and wide. Despite being a long way from London, the pull to visit somewhere as wonderfully wild as this is strong for 2018. The Cairngorms appeals more than any other unspoilt part of the UK simply for the breadth of what’s on offer. From swimming to hiking and wildlife spotting, I’m looking forward to a break from city life.
