What do you think when you think of the British Summer Time. That’s right… Rain. Ah, we’re just joking – us optimists here at Snaptrip are confident the summer of 2017 is going to be full of everything that’s brilliant about the British Summer Time – strawberries and cream, sunbathing in the park, ice cream vans dishing out 99’s and Pimms on the patio. It’s also the time of year when some of the UK’s festivals come out to play, making the most of the favourable weather and putting their best, most entertaining foot forward.
So if you’ve got an empty calendar in the summer months ahead, let’s fill it up together! Here are some of the UK’s best summer festivals to get you thoroughly inspired…
Barefoot, flower-garland-toting bohemians and gorgeous woodland combine at the Cotswolds’ Cornbury Park for this year’s Wilderness Festival. A hippie’s hallucinogenic dream, this countryside fest brings in the best of British folk pop, the likes of London Grammar and Two Door Cinema Club. There are also massive long-table banquets where the celebrity-chef world meets the festival-going crowd. But it’s not all fine dining and party-hopping; there are thought-provoking talks and symposiums by professors and philanthropists if you wanna’ get deep.
The UK’s surf capital of Newquay hosts a surf festival? It checks out, but this is no low-key seaside chill out. This is Boardmasters, a five day sea-and-salt fuelled fiesta. With surf competitions providing the exciting seafront show, there’s also live music on the highly instagrammable Fistral beach, plus delicious sea-produce food stalls to enjoy. And if they hadn’t proven their commitment to Cornish cuisine enough, there’s even the Wild Oyster Restaurant!
International Balloon Fiesta

Pembrokeshire | 14-27 August 2017
Making its debut in 2007, this wild woodland camp has been on quite the upward trajectory. This year, there’s the usual live music and DJs, but more than that, there’s the back-to-nature activities; from wild swimming, baking sourdough and even making a totem. Set in 200 acres of sprawling woodland just outside Cardigan, there are intimate domes to sleep in and a haunted granite pub in which to soak up the magic of this mystical event.
