Easter weekend; a perfect opportunity to spend time with your family. Many of us will be enjoying a four day weekend which offers a lovely window to bundle the family into the car and enjoy some time off in a new part of the UK. If you’re wondering how to keep the kids entertained, there are hundreds of Easter themed events taking places across the UK. We have chosen a selection of our favourites that will offer hours of family fun.
Easter Weekend at Blenheim Palace
From 10am – 5pm everyday over Easter weekend, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire has a whole host of activities on offer. There is sure to be something here to tickle the fancy of everyone in your group. Aside from an Easter egg hunt and face painting there will also be trampolining, vintage rides, a puppet show, maze, butterfly house and more. A day out with this much to do is sure to make you peckish; luckily there is the Pleasure Gardens Pizza Cafe on site with a range of options including healthy choices for children.
York Chocolate Festival
The best place for chocoholics this Easter is York. Parliament Street will be taken over by a chocolate festival from 29th March – 2nd April. York has a long history of chocolate making which will be celebrated in this festival. Easter is already a wonderful time of year for chocolate lovers, but this event has a vastly better offering than a some mini eggs. There will be demonstrations, workshops, tastings and stalls offering an impressive range of goodies; from churros to chocolate pies! Additionally kids will be kept entertained with activities and a fun fair.
Easter Fun at Beamish
Beamish in county Durham is hosting a whole array of family friendly events over Easter weekend. There will be an Easter Trail, where you’ll need to try and hunt down the eggs the Easter bunny has hidden in the museum. If you want to get crafty there will be a chance to make Easter cards, Easter bonnets or paper flowers. If you’re more interested in foodie treats, there will be traditional baking across the museum and Easter goodies available in Herron’s Bakery. The museum will also be showing how Easter was once celebrated in decades gone by. There is plenty here for a whole weekend of fun.
Eastertide Event at Kentwell
Easter weekend is a popular time of year at Kentwell in Sufolk. There is plenty going on across the weekend and much of it is inside; making it much harder for the weather to derail your weekend plans. If the sun is out, head to the gardens which will be open. Here you can admire the spring bulbs and blossom. Children will love a trip to the farm to see the animals and there will be Family Fun Trails as well as a Children’s Easter Egg Trail. Give the famously impossible quiz a try; it’s sure to challenge the whole family. There’s even a huge chocolate egg up for grabs if you can crack it.
Easter Petting Farm at Burton Constable
Burton Constable in Yorkshire is home to some fantastic family friendly fun from 24th March – 8th April. The Easter Petting Farm will let visitors get up close to cute spring-time animals. It’s hard not to fall in love with the chicks and you may even get the chance to feed one of the tiny lambs. The Wildlife Sculpture Trail is a great away to explore the grounds of Burton Constable. However, if you have little ones with you, they will appreciate the Easter Bunny Trail. There are plenty of other activities to enjoy too, from an Easter hat competition to storytelling.
