"Cottage is in a quiet, off road location, yet only three minutes' drive from nearest village, where there is a decent pub (The Crown), and ten minutes' drive from Prestatyn. There are stables and horses on site, and the owners have a friendly though large dog, and cat. We received a warm welcome with milk and a lovely cake provided, and chat when we passed throughout the week. The cottage is quite spread out and felt a bit big initially for us as a couple, but we soon got used to this! The cottage does sleep four and would be plenty big enough for this size group. There is a large garden, which we didn't use but would be great for a family in the summer. It was always warm when we came in at night - great on the days it was chillier.Kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. Toilet did smell a bit (this may have been the septic tank) and there were one or two cobwebs. The shower floor is quite thin and moves when you are in it, and the bathroom would benefit from an extra towel rail - it didn't feel as if there was quite enough towel space for the two of us (and I think this would be more the case with four). But these are minor things, and we really enjoyed our stay and our week."

"A lovely place run by lovely people. The accommodation is all on one level above a tearoom, with just a hedge separating the canal that runs along side. The balcony gives lovely views across the fields and canal and there are so many different birds, including Tawny owls. A ten minute walk along the towpath under the little bridge will bring you to the Navigation pub, or walk another twenty five or so to the Queens Head (ten minutes by car). We ate three times at the Queens Head and the food was very excellent. They serve food 12pm-9pm pretty much every day, so ideal for families like us who aren't great at organising our day.The Navigation pub isn't open an often, but I popped in for a pint on a couple of evenings and found it a friendly place, with many people commenting on how good the food was. Oswestry is close by with about four supermarkets. The Morrisons also has a petrol station.S82994 is run by Iain and Fiona, who are both lovely and real grafters. The coffee, cake, scones etc. were all excellent and all the food was home made I believe. We were able to use one of their canoes for a day which was great fun.We had a great time and hope to be back."

"We were a family of 8 adults and 2 small dogs that enjoyed an excellent week in S18158 over Christmas. S18158 has a really nice feel to it and was a real "home from home" for the family and was even decorated with a tree and xmas lights. The whole house was very well equipped with anything and everything that you are ever likely to need for a large family gathering. The property was very clean throughout and there was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. The gardens were very kept very tidy. Well located for dog walking in the nearby Delamere Forest, for shopping in Chester, and the Goshawk pub only 250 yds away was very good. There is an excellent A to Z supplied by the owner which tells you everything about the property and the surrounding area. Would thoroughly recommend S18158 to any family planning to visit the area and hopefully we will return again in the future."

"The location was beautiful, and I can’t imagine a more picturesque setting to the rear, being surrounded by streams - the dog loved it! The house was beautiful, and as a construction degree student I loved the interior design. The area was good too, rural enough to be out of the hubbub but not too far from Chester or Nantwich. My only problem was that as we used all the bedrooms and my grandfather needs level access so had the annex bedroom, my husband and I in the ground floor bedroom had to either go outside and into the kitchen to use the toilet or risk intruding on the people in the bedroom above ours and going two flights of stairs to the toilet. That was not a reason to not comeback though, and are planning to return for our tenth anniversary!"

"This cottage was sweet and bijou, it was to small for us. Apart from the fridge, no cupboard to put food in. The cultery was in an open tray under the sink waste. The bed was very comfy, but hitting your head on the beams that were very low above the bed was no fun. Warning for dog owners there is no fenced in garden for you to let them out in. There is a large owners garden, must be on lead. Lucky it was not hot you could not reach downstairs windows to open, and having dogs you could not leave door open. We had problems with cooker, toilet flush, key, and TV, only the last day did it seem to get better and you didn't get the picture braking every five minutes. The area was lovely, and Loggerheads very near and dogs love it."
