"I seldom review holiday accommodation, however I feel impelled to do so with S14792 for several reasons. I include both positive and negative points in my review. Overall, I feel S14792 is over-priced for what is offered and that the emphasis on comfort is somewhat overplayed, and I do not deem it to be 'romantic' as advertised in some locations online. For this price range, I expect more in terms of the decor, the quality of the fixtures and fittings, as well as a more effective heating system and the presence of a small welcome such as a pint of local milk or loaf of local bread. The wood burner is simply not enough to heat both the main room and the water during winter. I would also illustrate that I am happy to put on layers and heat my own home in an environmentally conscious way, but given the price and that I was on a much-needed break, a more effective or indeed efficient heating system should be present. I hold the view that being environmentally friendly need not compromise ones comfort, but at S14792 this is the case. At this price point, I would simply not recommend this accommodation to friends or family, as you will have a more comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable stay elsewhere. Positive points include that the property is less than an hours drive from Newcastle upon Tyne, there is a co-op supermarket within walking distance and a good local pub which serves a very good Sunday lunch. Up to two dogs are allowed in the accommodation and the owner can provide additional sheets or blankets for furniture. Furthermore, the owners of the property are knowledgeable about the local area."

"Beautiful cottage which is exceptionally well equipped. Very peaceful setting in a very small hamlet of about 12 properties. Nearest shop is 2.5 miles away in Marfen although was closed while we were there. Don’t expect food shops on your doorstep so plan for at least your 1st evening and breakfast. Next nearest was Corbridge which has little Co-op but some lovely little shops too. For major food shopping Hexham is great with big Tesco, plus Aldi and Waitrose. Lots of other lovely shops too. Beautiful countryside all around cottage with amazing walking to be done. Lovely welcome from owners Michelle and Rob with unexpected fresh baked loaf, lovely jam and few other extras. Please be mindful that satnav May try to send you down tracks and dead ends. Mine is only 2 years old and didn’t recognise the dead ends and kept trying to send me down them. Was approx 3.5 mile journey down single track which is undulating with a few passing points. Was lovely but suspect treacherous in winter. We had fun when the farmer didn’t lock the gate properly one time and 4 cows and a bull escaped and led us down the last of the track down to the A road where they kindly stopped the traffic for us! There are other routes once you find your way around but if relying on satnav may be an issue for some. Cottage is by far the nicest we have stayed in by far and would highly recommend and would be happy to return."

"This cottage really is in a fanstatic location with amazing views and a well thought out lay out.If you are taking a dog with you then you'll find well marked footpaths and lovely routes. The cottage itself is pretty well kitted out (but a pair of oven gloves would be useful). We did buy bottled water as the supply tasted very chlorinated but that can't be held against the property. The garden is secure and you can bolt the gate from the inside. There is a raised patio area which is not fenced. The beds were comfortable with lovely white linen and the upstairs bedroom has a wonderful view and an en suite bathroom/ shower room. Both showers were really powerful and a joy to use.The property could do with some general maintenance and some areas needed to be given a deep clean but it is mid season and change over time is often too quick for doing those time consuming tasks. The parking is in the pub car park next door to the property. The pub itself is clearly popular and the menu was pretty extensive. There are polite and helpful staff working there.Over all I think you would have to go a long way to find a better property.Near by Hexham has a Waitrose, Tesco, either Lidl or Aldi and a small Co op with plenty of other shops in the centre.Any negative points I have raised are far out weighed by the positive points and are purely observations as we would happily holiday there again."

"This is a very clean and comfortable, well equipped self catering cottage. Situated in an idyllic secluded location in Northumberland. Not a town or shop for miles around and yet everything we wanted, right on the doorstop. Lots of beautiful, unspoilt scenery, lovely walks, very few people and they were very friendly. A village pub less than 5 minutes walk for some wonderful evening meals. An excellent selection of single malt whiskies to round off the meal. Old Pulteney, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bunnahabhain, Tamnavulin to name but a few. The bird of prey centre is well worth a visit. The walk around Kielder water has some interesting sculptures. Hareshaw Linn Falls is a pleasant walk. The cottage owners were exceedingly friendly and welcoming and always on hand if anything were needed. For dark skies and star gazing, avoid the summer months, it doesn't get dark in mid June. This is a wonderful cottage owned by lovely people in a fabulous part of the country."

"We have just stayed at S37795 for 10 days and could quite happily have extended our holiday. The kitchen, although small, is well kitted out including a washing machine and full sized fridge freezer plus all utensils. The bed was super comfy, plus bedroom had full length mirror and a good amount of hangers in the wardrobe, which is fab. The lounge was quite cosy with lots of lovely finishing touches and a nice little conservatory all gave a homely feel. Our only gripe was the parking! Although it states that there is designated parking for the cottage in the description, this is mostly taken up by customers going to the pub right opposite, or customers parking right outside the kitchen window, which felt quite intrusive. But we would definitely stay here again, as this is not a major issue, but I feel it should be mentioned. As I say, we would absolutely stay at S37795 again and definitely recommend it"
