Staying in Brighton and Hove

Brighton and Hove, until recently was two separate towns, but is now one wonderful city. Brighton Pier is an iconic landmark of the area and certainly worth a visit on any holiday to the city. Nestled in the lanes of Hove you’ll find numerous cafes to while away the afternoon in. Across the whole city you’ll find a great selection of places to eat and drink. The opposite side of the city to the coast you’ll find the South Downs National Park and all the wonderful landscapes and activities that it has to offer. "The cottage was pleasantly situated with a view out over the church and lane. The cottage had a fairly new kitchen and bathroom though the rest of the property was in need of a refurbishing and some of the furniture like the sofa and armchairs, recovering renewing. The twin beds were comfortable and no negative report re the double. Although reasonably clean, some areas needed attention; black mould spots on the bath side and the windows were filthy both inside and out. A nice touch was the seasonally planted boxes on front and rear window sills, a pity though, that the sills hadn’t been wiped clean. Externally the cottage was noticeably shabby compared to its neighbours. The garden was pleasant. The kitchen contents were variable, plenty of plates, only 4 mismatched bowls and lacking in non wine glasses, 3 tall tumblers and one small. The two plastic chopping boards made us shudder, criss crossed with dirt encrusted knife cuts. We didnt go beyond toast so cannot comment on the state of the pans and other stuff. We were provided with one bath towel per person, plus one hand and a mat, we had to take the kitchen towel to the bathroom so we at least had one to use for hair washing and hands. They were not great, one had bleach marks. The beds had fleece throws, I had to use mine in the night as I was cold. I ran my hand over it as I turned over, it was crusty in parts Urhgh. Fresh eggs were a nice touch though milk etc being provided is pretty much par for the course these days in cottage rentals. We rent about 3 times a year, over the country so are fairly seasoned in these matters, this cottage was well below the standard we’ve come to expect."

"The big plus about this cottage is the wonderful location, perched atop a cliff with lovely views to the south over the channel and to the west along the coast, where we saw some amazing sunsets.Large property with secure decked area to patio doors to front and beyond a secured mainly turfed garden. This was ideal for our 2 small dogs. Parking for 2 cars directly outside and property accessed by gravel road. Spacious lounge, adequate kitchen, decent size bedrooms and main bathroom. We didn't use the games room upstairs. The negatives were that when we arrive the place smelt of dogs, and although we have dogs, this smell was off putting. Soon had windows open and bought and used air fresheners which did the trick. Everywhere was clean, but the kitchen was dirty. Previous occupants had left a dirty greasy oven, dirty microwave, some cutlery marked and oven and work tops not clean. We had to spend a bit of time with soap and water to make it clean, which we shouldn't have to do.Otherwise a nice property in great location."

"We had a lovely week at S84700s. . The bungalow is very well positioned and offers fabulous views and walks. The pool is very welcome and can be used covered or uncovered. The amenities within the bungalow are very good, with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. We went as a family of 4 with 2 small dogs and were made to feel very welcome by the housekeeper when we arrived. There are 2 pubs within easy walking distance which offer great food. The one further away has a better menu and you can take the dogs inside. There are several good takeaways locally, a little convenience shop which you can walk to and two larger supermarkets within a 5 minute drive. I would definitely recommend this property and we will also return."

"We enjoyed our stay at Honeysuckle. It was well placed for visiting Brighton and the Downs. We took our dog and found some lovely dog friendly pubs nearby. The Lady Mile pub is within walking distance and was very dog friendly. The closer steak house didnt but was so close she wasnt left alone for long. Other reviews mentioned an odour in the longue. To me it was obviously gas. I texted the owner about it and she very promptly contacted gas board to get it checked. The eggs, cakes and milk were a nice touch. The stairs were a bit steep but easy enough to manage. Overall a very nice clean cottage."

"V pleasant little studio with decent equipment in kitchen. Comfy bed and linens. Sunny and pleasant to sit outside, although not super private as overlooks garden to another couple of homes. Saw a deer in the garden while having breakfast outside! Would be V snug for 2 adults to sit around inside for any length of time but I stayed solo and it was fine. Seats a bit low for anyone with mobility issues. Walking distance to lovely village and nearest pub Rose and Crown about 50m away is terrific."
