If you’re interested in Brecon Beacons’ produce, don’t miss out on the Penderyn Distillery or Pwll Mawr cheddar. There are also many pubs, restaurants and tea shops to choose from if you need refreshment on route. With minimal light pollution, the Brecon Beacons has an impressive nights sky. If you enjoy star gazing, this is the place to visit. Hopefully the night view will be preserved for years to come as this spot is also a designated International Dark Sky Reserve.

"This cottage really didn't live up to expectations. From the strong smell of damp to the dirty toilet and everything in between it really wasn't a great place to stay. The floors were so think with hair we had to buy a vacuum cleaner whilst there to try and tidy up a bit.We were staying as a family, and had planned to use the three bedrooms, but had to put both children in the same room together as the room with bunks was very damp and we worried about their health if they stayed in there. Our bed, although looking good, was actually very uncomfortable. As was the sofa and chairs in the living room. The bath has no shower attachment to enable hair washing at all. We need up having to get a large jug to try and rinse clean. The floor covering in the bathroom is also coming apart. Probably something to do with the lack of bath mat. We booked a cottage with a washing machine and tumble dryer, turned out it was a washer dryer, however nothing I could do would get the dryer part to work. Very irritating given I like to wash on holiday to keep in top of things. The kitchen was well fitted out with oven, job microwave etc. However nothing was clean. Another major disappointment was the hot tub. We only ever stay in cottages or lodges with tubs. It's our luxury when on holiday. However this wasn't a luxury this time. All previous places have told us not to worry about chemicals as they sort it and also make a point of telling us its all fresh and they change the water for each set of guests etc. However I doubt the water had been changed in this one for a while, it. Smelt and looked quite grim. We were also given no instruction on use etc like most places. The cottage has potential, it just needs some proper attention and eye for detail. Unfortunately I will never see it as I certainly won't be returning."

"POSITIVESCottage has lots of original features, which gives it lots of character. The location is excellent, close to lots of attractions. Could not fault the pub and food. Micro zoo was fun. Hot tub was hot and very relaxingBed was very comfortable and king size a bonusSky TV, DVD player with selection on DVD's, iPod adapter, WiFiNicely furnishedHeating on when we arrivedVery private NEGATIVES Very strong smell of damp and visible on walls. Ceiling paper coming away in lounge areaFloor coming up in bathroom No showerWould have liked a welcome pack with advice Key holder/ owner didn't come to make sure everything was ok. Steps into garden - there were none and very slippy has had been raining. No steps into hot tub. Broken light switch for stairs light. SMALL NEGATIVESPosition of mirror in bathroom for hubby to have shaveNo bin in bathroomLeaking roof in lean too area. Had a pet slugWe enjoyed our stay there but feel that it was not worth the price and need an extreme make over, especially with the damp, decoration and install a shower, but don't want to loose the character. When we returned home there was a t-shirt my husband had not worn but you could smell the damp on it. Loved the uneven floor in the bedroom that when you walked the chest of draws draw opened and the wardrobe looked as if it had spent too much time in the pub! Could be made into a very luxury cottage, but I understand that with 3 bedrooms it is aimed at families and it's all cost. Would love to return but needs to be made over first."

"I enjoyed my stay. This is a lovely cottage, great location, not least for the close proximity of a pub and the fact you can see wallabys from the adjacent wildlife rescue centre out of the windows, but also for local attractions. Bed/matress was very comfortable. It seems that its may be undergoing a revamp, there is some cool decor and a new cooker so there are obviously new additions. But, and I say this as someone who lives in a old house and expects a stone cottage that is clearly at least 100 years old to have its issues, it is damp. It smells of damp ( as does my house in winter) and the back bedroom wall seem to suffer the most. There is no visible mildew etc, just a smell and patches on ths wall that appear to be damp. The ceiling covering in the living room has clearly departed company from the actual ceiling, the bathroom floor is 'split' (water damaged? Don't know, not an expert) in one portion and there is no shower. So yes its a good location, it has a hot tub, generally clean. However is it perfect? No, and I personally think that until obvious problems are addressed ( and i think the owner is working to adress this, and as i've said old houses get damp and there is little you can do about it) Don't get me wrong, i enjoyed my stay, modern decor quirky building, immeditate location was unique in a good way. Just the finer points need to be addressed. A cottage of two halves."

"This cottage has all the basic indegredients to be special but is let down by some pretty straightforward issues. So, the positives: Amazing location on the Swansea Valley side of the Brecon Beacons with walks into the mountains from the back door;Amazing garden that presents a real adventure for little people and dogs;Hot tub in the back garden;Micro zoo next door;Friendly owners;Comfy beds;Gastropub next door. But here are the problems:Only a bath with no shower attachment - the novelty of a relaxing bath wears off after a few days!Bathroom floor lifting up and no bath mat (think the two may be linked)The cottage is advertised and priced as 3 bedrooms but we were advised not to use the 3rd bedroom due to to ingress of damp from chimney;3 dining chairs for a 3 bedroom, 6 person property;Very small fridge despite having space in sun room for a redundant washing machine, old paint pot and chest of draws - needs a family fridge freezer; No lights working on stairs or in children's bedroom on arrival although sorted out as soon as the issue was raised;Kitchen ventilation not working and very greesy;Remnants of previous occupants fire still in wood burning stove;Lounge is very gloomy despite efforts to light up - if same spot lights in master bedroom were installed in lounge would major improvement."

"The cottage was very disappointing, all the rooms smelt damp and had a lot of mould. Most the rooms had diffusers to mask the damp smell. The small room with the bunk beds had a lot of mould up the walls which was horrible. The owner even told us to not go in that room and shut the door.No shower and no towels even though they advertise them on there site. One of the kitchen cupboards had mouse poo in, so they couldn't of cleaned them.We couldn't let the dogs in the living room incase they licked the walls with mould on and we couldn't let then in the garden because the garden wasn't enclosed like they said it was, they could of either ran out near the road or the gap near the goats and other animals. There was a mirror and a pot with chemicals in near the summer house. The summer house you couldn't get in because there were work tools and rubbish inside which was a shame as the outside of it looked nice. Also there was a old bonfire which wasn't nice to see. We was horrified when we saw a thick wire sticking out of the garden wall. One of the staff members said it was just were the hot tub use to be. We only stayed one night as we didn't want to stay any longer. When we did fall asleep the loud speaker trespasser alarm woke us up. The only good thing was the lovely zoo they had."
