"Loved the location of S24438; 10 mins drive from Bowness yet quiet & peaceful retreat. It is part of a courtyard of 3 cottages basically in the middle of a field; there are a few caravans nearby & some walkers went past the window. S24438 on the whole had everything we needed. We travelled with my 8 month old; a high chair was provided however it seemed dated & the straps were filthy, didn’t find it the easiest to use and not a lot of space around the table & tv in the way when this was up. A travel cot was also provided but didn’t use this as we took our own. Only space for travel cot was in the main bedroom near the big east-facing window with very thin curtains so be aware you will be sleeping together & likely wake early in summer (my little one sleeps in his own room). This combined with the bed being so uncomfortable did result in some disturbed nights & early wake ups due to the room flooding with light. I would recommend taking a blackout blind if travelling with a little one. My son was not mobile at the time & although the living room floor had ‘playing space’, I think it could be a challenge with more mobile infants (with eg low lamps, low tv & cables & cupboards they could pull at). The kitchen was well equipped but we found the fridge very small (particularly as we store baby bottles). The shared washing facilities (machine & dryer) were handy. The bath was on the small side & water is yellow (I assume due to natural spring) but little one didn’t seem to mind. The entrance to S24438 could do with being signposted, as it’s not easy to find in the dark & because you approach it from the back. The bed mattresses could do with replacing as they were lumpy & warped and the sofa was very uncomfortable (different to the one that was in pics online). There is parking directly outside with enough space for a couple of cars if needed."

"The apartment was beautiful and very clean. The location was fantastic, literally 2 mins to the town and 5 mins to lake. However parking was a nightmare and if you were lucky enough to get a spot, move and it was gone. The local car park was very close but really expensive at @ £7 for a few hours. The accommodation was advertised as having parking however this was communal not specific. As a party with 2 elderly guests there was no mention of the very steep concrete steps to access the building. The apartment would be wonderful for 2 adults and 2 children but far too small for 4 adults. Because of the way the living room was set out, 4 people could not watch tv as you were sat sideways to the TV. It would have been better sited the other side of the room where the wooden cat is on a bracket? The another small chair could be fitted. The second bedroom was so small that there was not bedside table and a cupboard had been converted to house clothes, you could only access by kneeling on the bed, no good for people in their 80’s. In order for 4 to sit comfortably around the table, you had to move the table out into the living room which then blocked off the door into the hall and access to the kitchen. We are holiday home owners ourselves and all our ads state “not suitable for those with mobility problems” I don’t mean to sound negative and if we were a couple, it would have ticked every box as it is lovely, however as a group of 4 we won’t be returning sadly."

"Found the apartment in much need of a couple of coats of paint to re vitalise it, shower in main bathroom is very poor, slow and inadequate flow, didn't use it after 1st day. Kitchen dated with cheap noisey slamming doors, which comes regularly from upstairs and downstairs apartments. Doors to wardrobes banging from up and below too, all hours, overall very noisy neighbours, we ain't used to that as we live in detached property. Whlist cooking breakfast we noticed the cutlery was dirty along with other utencils. there are dirty finger marks on all doors and wardrobe doors above handles, cleaners need to do more thorough and detailed clean on change over.light switch for rear shower adjacent kitchen entrance is filthy and wall around it. Front door very rickety and draughty, still doesn't seem safe when double locked, should be upvc as windows."

"Great holiday in Bowness again, fantastic place and base to explore the Lake District. Large variety of eating and drinking places. On the down side most of public toilets closed or charging silly amounts, car ferry closed over summer ( refurbishment should be done out of season ) prices for ferries / buses little high. Overall amazing place.Re accommodation, wonderful place stayed there before and will again and again we are sure, to make even better add Wi-Fi, shower very stiff needs addressing, advertised as NO pets but believe some visitors may have taken dogs in past ( we prefer no pets accommodation ), great place to call home for your stay love it. Will defiantly be back hopefully many more timesRe Cumbrian cottages, used them many times been great very helpful would highly recommend them, ( loyalty discount may be nice )"

"We enjoyed our visit to S50210, the steepness surprised us as it was slightly steeper than expected, but after two climbs managed to do it in one go. 2 mins down hill to boats and all sorts of amenities. The views were wonderful and from the windows overlooking beautiful gardens of the surrounding houses. The reserved parking space is just what you need , even though a little tight as the other holiday makers had large cars. The weather was not good the week we were there but as there is lots to do, it was not a problem. The kitchen had every thing you needed and more. We were woken at about 8am twice due to tree felling just across the road. Would visit this property again."
