Things to see on your Bournemouth cottage holiday

One of the things that separates Bournemouth from other British seaside towns is the quality of its nightlife. Less sleepy Victorian resort and more youthful, lively and up-all-night holiday hotspot, Bournemouth boasts a wide selection of bars, pubs and restaurants as well as lots of events that run throughout the whole year, including concerts by some big name performers. If you are hitting the town with a group of friends, there are lots of Bournemouth holiday cottages available that cater for larger groups of people.

As well as lots to keep young and happening visitors happy, Bournemouth is also very family-friendly. Bournemouth Pier offers a more traditional seaside experience, where you’ll find amusements, restaurants that boast excellent sea-views, lots of gift shops, and plenty of places where you can buy candy floss! Once you’re finished at the beach, there’s plenty more to keep you busy, including mini golf and, if you’re in-town around the festive period, a Christmas Market. Other top attractions include the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum, and Bournemouth Ocenarium.

"We enjoyed our stay in this cottage, very conveniently located for town centre shops, restaurants, bars, public transport, the minster, the museum, the cinema and the attractive riverside with its little ferry across to Wick and the longer boat trip to Mudeford. Bournemouth, Dorchester and the New Forest are also in easy day-out distance. We had travelled by train, but the off-road parking was useful when relatives called. For a couple, the spacious main bedroom with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space was fine, but the second bedroom looked as if it might be rather cramped for another two adults. Traffic noise had been mentioned in other reviews and, although we were aware of it at times, we didn't find it very intrusive. It was made clear in the property description that the bathroom was on the ground floor, which, together with the narrow staircase, might not suit everyone. With so much to do nearby, we didn't use the garden area but thought it would benefit from a bit of TLC, and the outdoor table and seating might have appealed more if not so close to the house next door."

"You have a fantastic house and location. Thank you very much for sharing it with us, we have had a lovely week and don't want to leave. The weather has been great for April and so we have spent time on the beach using the great beach hut, exploring Christchurch, Mudeford and Avon beach areas. We took the land train to Hengitsbury Head which my young son loved! We would recommend all these places for visits. We did not get to eat at the famous 'Rhodes South' restaurant so headed for a few country pubs instead. The New Inn near Ringwood was great for food (and atmosphere/décor) as was The Woolpack nearby although the former was our preference. Thanks again for making our first holiday in the Dorset area such a lovely one. HC, Wimbledon, 30.04.2010"

"Gorgeous house, fantastic location. First stay in Dorset and determined to explore. Walked to Hengistbury Head and took ferry across to Mudeford Quay, then back through Christchurch. Much exploring during our stay, Kimmeridge Bay, Lulworth Cove, walking up and over to Durdle Door. Recovered with Sauna and Jacuzzi at Carlton Hotel. Explored Wimborne, Blandford and the jewel that is Sherborne. Also Lyme Regis watching tubs of crabs being unloaded at the Cobb. Walked to Old Harry Rocks from Studland. We booked some meals at the house , wonderfully cosy and great to awake to views of stormy seas! A packed and exhausting week, what fun we could have got up to if the sun had been shining and we were all 50 years younger!! "

"Incredible house for a whole family to share. Facilities in the house were outstanding, we really didn’t need to take anything. The children were catered for in every aspect including high chair, travel cot, stair gates and the most fantastic playroom - each day a new discovery with different boxes to explore. For ease each couple took turns to cook and the house provided every possible item we required. We have not spent time together for three years due to some living abroad and we shared a blissful early ‘Christmas’ together with all the trimmings & presents. The beach so close was a joy & beautiful weather a massive bonus, glorious days spent building sandcastles - in October!Thank you so much to Chris and Amanda."
