"A lovely quiet terraced bungalow set just a few yards away from the harbour and great sea front walks. Saw Dolphins within yards of the house. Two local pubs and a local Spar for everyday needs with Asda, etc 10 mins away in Tain. A warm and cosy little house with all the kit you need to self cater if you choose. Although Balintore is not a name that springs to mind when choosing a base to tour from, we found it ideal being only a few mins off the A9 and within easy reach of the Black Isle, Tain, Dornoch and Stathpeffer- we even had a lovely scenic circular drive to Ullapool on the West Coast. In short, we were very pleasantly surprised and had a fantastic week."

"We had an amazing week at S69943. Its a lovely cottage on a quiet street less than a minutes walk to a beautiful beach. Its got everything you need to self cater, and the welcome breakfast pack was very generous. Really warm and cosy, and a very comfy bed. There's plenty of places to explore nearby including Tain Hill, the Shandwick Stone and the Well of Health, and if like us you want to make the most of being this far up in Scotland its a great base for touring across to the stunning West coast, down to Loch Ness and up to John O'Groats.Would definately recommend a trip to S69943 and our dog would say so too."

"The location and the welcome from the owners is unquestionable. We arrived at about 8pm after a 400 mile drive to find the lights and a roaring fire going which was just fantastic. The property is dog friendly and has a fantastic location, 20 metres from the beach, just what we wanted.A couple of minor negatives:- the staircase to the 2nd room is not only very narrow and steep, it is also very noisy, so going to the toilet in the night can wake the occupants of the main bedroom.- we found the mattress in the main bedroom pretty uncomfortable, perhaps it needs replacing?Despite these points we would stay again."

"We had a lovely week at S86622, it was very warm and cosy. Jackie and Lorna leave plenty of logs to keep the burner going all week and more besides and the central heating works a treat. The lodge is very close to a picturesque beach, with a dog friendly pub nearby with friendly locals. There is a Spar shop nearby too but we booked an Asda delivery to arrive on Saturday evening and we got our shopping delivered for the week. There are dog friendly walks in both directions from the lodge and we visited Dornoch beach and Shin Falls, both within a short drive from Balintore. We would gladly return again."

"Inside, the accommodation was lovely. Out side it was a little disappointing as the advert made it sound as if it was more secluded than it was really. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, but are in the process of selling off a garden plot. If this was sold and built on, the "lodge" would lose all sunlight and would be very claustrophobic.Balintore was peaceful and scenic with lots of local sites of interest, and journeys to other places were within reach.I would not recommend the bedroom upstairs except for young guests as it was up a steep spiral staircase."
