"The best feature of this house is it being completely detached and private with glorious views of the distant Snowdonia mountains. The large wood-burning fireplace dominates the living room, not a pleasant feature really, unless lit. The weather did warrant it at times, but the supplied lighter needed batteries and with just 3 logs, not really enough to bother with. The background heating was welcome for the mornings, with the use of an additional portable radiator. The window in the bathroom was impossible to close and let in a lot of cold air which had to be combated with having the fan-heater on quite a bit. We are not ones to watch TV very much, but saw no point in having a large flat-screen TV when there's no signal and no advice given about it in the guests' folder. Had someone called initially it could have perhaps been explained, but with a broken Sky changer and 2 others relevant to the make of TV, we considered it would have been better not to provide a TV set. Why have it listed in the cottage details? To be marooned indoors in inclement weather is a little miserable with the rather strange design of fairly elderly upholstered chairs, all (including the sofa) with no head-support.The cooking facility is good, with excellent-quality saucepans necessary for the ceramic hob and thankfully a spacious fridge-freezer. There is little space though in the kitchen area, the microwave having to be sited across the draining board. The separate work-bench for food preparation is a boon though. The outside space for children is good, and the weather-proof picnic table on the lawn, comfortable chairs are needed really though, as mentioned in a few visitors' comments as otherwise take the wooden chairs outside with a cushion- not ideal. The use of the Leisure Club was a real bonus, we all loved going nearly every day. We did have a walk each day, from the door and also one from a nearby village, also another in the Snowdon range."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Woodside on the Kymin, for us it was a late booking and great it was available. The Cottage was easy enough to find, and while the drive up is steep and a bit of reversing is required to get you round the corners, it was accessible enough, wouldn't recommend taking wide or long vehicles though - as highlighted in the instructions. There are 4 bedrooms, all nicely decorated, lots of wood and white paint to give the cottage feeling, the beds (and i can't stress this enough) were very comfortable, not the usual holiday let variety of wire springs poking through thin padding! The bathrooms are great, good hot showers. The Kitchen dinner (which along with the lounge and veranda) is upstairs, and is well equiped and clean. The Veranda offers great views out over Monmouth and even as far the Sugarloaf near Abergavenny. We had one problem with the shower not turning off and dripping continually, i emailed the owner - Anwen, and she organised a plumber who turned up almost immediately! how good is that?!There are some lovely walks up to the NT Round House and there are woods to walk round with bits of Offa's dike path, you can walk into Monmouth down a footpath leading off the road up the Kymon, but we found it over grown and steep, on the return we choose to use the bridleway that comes out near the NT Roundhouse - a very pleasant if hilly walk. We also cycled down into Monmouth and the Forest of Dean, the main road (the short bit you are on) is busy and does have lots of heavy traffic on it - must be a quarry close by so we choose to return via the back of the Kymin, there are loads of forest fire roads to use so you can pretty much avoid the main road. All in all a great holiday cottage with loads to recommend it and the surrounding area."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at S80531, probably one of the best UK holiday homes we have rented over many years. It is a comfortable and very well equipped town house well situated to provide easy access to everything that New Quay has to offer. The house is full of character and tastefully decorated and furnished. The lovely garden was a great feature and 100% secure for even the most inquisitive dog, a big consideration for us. The two sets of tables and chairs meant we could enjoy the sun for most of the day. The fact that the property is next door to an Indian restaurant meant that if we were sat in the garden in the evening there were occasional food smells and some noise from the extractor fan, but for us these points were easily offset by the garden's benefits, and for most of the day the garden was very peaceful and a perfect spot to relax or read. The narrow parking access down the side of the house will not suit many people, particularly if you have a large vehicle, but it is worth noting that public car parking a few hundred yards away is only £9 for the week and there were plenty of spaces every day.New Quay is a great holiday destination with coastal walks and beautiful beaches on your doorstep, most of them dog friendly. Dolphin spotting was also good fun from the harbour in the evening and we saw quite a few during our week.A good selection of local pubs, cafes and shops meant that we could cater for everything we needed without driving off to Tesco’s etc. and we had the best fish & chips ever from the town, and the best steak ever from the butcher. We will definitely come back to this area again."

"This is an outstanding property, quite the best we've stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few) and it exceeded all our expectations. The access road needs care, but it didn't detract from the property at all and it's the price to be paid for such wonderful views! The house was so welcoming and had everything we could have wanted in terms of amenities and comfort, with the added bonus of patio and garden space and views to die for. The conservatory was a really nice place and we sat in there most evenings until the sun went down, watching the resident rabbits (including a cute black one) and pheasants and listening to the many songbirds. It was so nice to wake up in that stunning en-suite bedroom, with the ever-changing views from the balcony and a highlight for us both was being able to lay in bed and look up at the stars - magic! We spent an exhilarating few hours on the train up to the summit of Snowdon, visited Powis Castle with its amazing gardens, wandered around the wonderfully quirky Portmeirion in the sun and fulfilled a 20 year ambition of mine to see the Rex Whistler mural at Plas Newydd on Anglesey! All in all it was a great holiday, but the icing on the cake was definitely the house."

"Sadly this cottage was let down for a number of reasons, general cleanliness lacking, extremely dusty everywhere, dirty sheet in wardrobe. Shower fell off wall at first attempt, no cleaning materials except washing up tablets, no welcome pack not even a tea bag, bathroom downstairs unable to use due to pungent smell, no fans anywhere as it’s a holiday cottage one would think there would be at least one we had to go to Tesco’s and buy a couple and then back again to buy a screwdriver , garden needed weeding and garden furniture tatty and old on the whole. Overall this could be a love,y cottage but requires attention to detail and tlc, we left a day early, we text ‘Angela’ to let her know she didn’t have the courtesy to reply back Location amazing and we will be going back but we will not be staying here ."
