"We are a group of 10, 4 adults & 6 children from age 10 - 16. We had a great time at Candlelight. We ordered groceries from Asda the week before, which were recieved by Charlotte for us on the morning of our arrival. Charlotte & Keith had left a great welcome package of cakes, local snacks & wines for us which was a really nice touch. Although we ordered cleaning materials & hand washes etc with our shop all of this was already provided. The cottage is very large, spacious, tastefully decorated & spotlessly clean. Charlotte met us to say hi - no lectures on do's & don'ts just a friendly welcome. The owners live next door across the cottage's private car park but they did not interfere with us they were just there if we needed them. It is a beautiful cottage with roof beams & period features. Downstairs is a large hallway, two spacious twin / double bedrooms, a large living room (with a large DTV), large kitchen with all untensils & appliances you could possibly need, a dining area with seating for 10 and a utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, wc & boiler. We had unlimited hot water all day which was great. Upstairs are 3 more bedrooms - 2 en-suite doubles & a twin. There is also a large bathroom with wc, shower, bath & sink. All bedrooms were very well finished with ample hangers for clothes & comfortable beds. Outside there are back & front gardens with ample seating in both, a hot tub which was checked each day for water quality, a pond & a small lawn at the rear. There were plenty of towels provided for everyone plus extra large towels, robes, slippers & flip flops for use with the hot tub. The cottage is located in a quiet rural setting with 2 local pubs within walking distance, both of which serve food. Totnes is the local town less than 2 miles away - the seaside towns of Brixham, Paignton, Torbay & Torquay are not far away. There was a comprehensive information pack with everything from emergency information to local restaurants & beaches etc in the hallway. It was just perfect for us and we would love to go back. Just for info if you are expecting to visit the local seaside towns regularly it is worth going to the Tourist Information Offices & buying a 7 day car park pass for £35. These are valid in all local council controlled car parks (which is most of them). There is no such thing as free car parking in the towns and it can mount up so definately worth considering for peace of mind. Also recommend the boat / steam railway / bus round robin trips from Torquay & Dartmouth. Many thanks to Charlotte & Keith. It was great."

"A beautiful cottage, in a lovely setting. Very well equipped kitchen, the separate utility room was a real bonus for us as traveling with children (and needed to do washing!) All bedrooms comfortable and stylish, nice big living room and a proper dining table that sat 8 adults, a child and a highchair easily. The welcome basket of treats was great and a really nice touch! Would definitely recommend this cottage if you want a relaxing, quiet stay and are happy to drive to attractions - it's about 15-20mins to Paignton and about 40mins to Salcombe. This suited us well.We visited the local community pub Tally Ho which was a few mins walk, which was friendly and had a small enclosed grassy beer garden. Only downsides of our stay were the busy traffic through Totnes itself, and the hot tub was set a bit cool for us at 39 but could turn this up (just takes a while to get warmer). Was also quiet full, when we had four of us in it, it almost overflowed! However these are very minor issues, we had a brilliant stay and Charlotte the owner was helpful by email before we arrived."

"Great cottage (castle cottage 3 at Tuckenhay Mill) perfectly situated for the natural beauty and top sites in South Devon. Cottage is well equipped and comes with BBQ. Looked to have been recently refurbished as all very clean and fresh. Great views as situated up the hillside. Good facilities on site as there are two indoor pools and one outdoor. Three jacuzzis, sports and games room, gym and a small football pitch. Easy to find on the map. Only negative points really were the comfortableness of the beds as none of the mattresses were particularly comfortable and the old spring type. Also the issue of hiring towels. Feel for the cost of the cottage for a week the mattresses could be of better quality or have a foam topper added and the towels should be thrown in for the price. Otherwise a great trip and the staff members we came across on site were lovely and very helpful."

"We stayed at Buzzard cottage in October 2016. It is a difficult drive to reach there, especially if the weather is wet. The cottage is remote - about 4 miles from the nearest shop and there is no mobile signal. It would have been really helpful to have had Internet access. The cottage is in a beautiful, peaceful setting but if the weather is bad, there is only the TV. A few books, games, puzzles or DVDs would have been useful. On arrival there was a frozen pint of milk in the fridge, tea bags and a packet of biscuits. We were surprised to find that there was no salt & pepper, soap in the bathroom, that kind of thing. The hot water very quickly ran out even after one shower. We did have an enjoyable, restful holiday and the cottage is ideally placed for exploring Dartmoor and South Hams.Probably not great in bad weather with young children."

"Rented the Mill House to celebrate our Golden Wedding with our children & grandchildren. The house was amazing, extremely well equipped and lived up to the advertising. We made full use of the pools and hot tub. The weather was glorious which added to the enjoyment of the holiday. Given the special occassion the cost (almost £4 grand ) was justifiable but we wouldn't afford that normally.I was horrified to find there was no recycling on the site - because 'it would be classed as commercial' - given the accommodation hire costs I would consider the site to be 'commercial' . A party of 10 generates a lot of plastic packaging + glass bottles - we made the effort to take those to the bottle bank at the pub down the road. I would have expected a site like Tuckenhay to be very supportive of protecting the environment."
