"My family are so glad we booked S83422 for our get-together, 8 members ranging from 5 months to 83 years and everyone thoroughly enjoyed our visit from 2nd-9th June 2018.The website description is accurate, and the booking process was very efficient, via email. Two days before departing I also received a personal message from the owners David & Jean, with detailed travelling directions and mobile number to contact anytime for advice or assistance. Our arrival fortunately coincided with beautiful sunny weather; the trip to the cottage revealed the spectacular scenery along the route. Jean met us on arrival with a warm and informative welcome. The cottage is stunning and certainly had the 'wow' factor; making everyone feel happy, excited and relaxed right from the start. The cottage and furnishings are beautiful, and it is very well appointed; nothing has been left to chance, reflecting on the thoughtfulness of the owners and a high level of customer care. This was further enhanced by the presentation of a large, quality welcome basket, which was very much appreciated. What is not to like, with nature at its best; deer, red squirrels; herons; ospreys and other abundant bird life in a stunning setting. We had a wonderful time and were all sad to leave. We hope to re-visit for another calm and rejuvenating experience. Highly recommended. Thank-you."

"We loved our week at S33829 and are talking about booking to stay there again. There was everything we needed both in the cottage and in the surrounding area. As you'd expect the internet was occasionally a little slow but that didn't bother us. After all, we'd come away to rest and relax. If I were being picky then there were a few small things. Logs for the fire were too big to fit in the burner (the cottage has amazing central heating so we were warm) so an axe or saw might have been useful. We visited in November and we were toasty with the heating on. I really wanted to recycle our waste. I know the owners don't control the local area rules on recycling but it just felt wrong to not recycle. That said, the cottage was lovely. Calming with beautiful views. The nature reserve was fab for walking our dogs. The beaches we visited (we went in November) were empty and the dogs loved them. The Boathouse in Glencaple do amazing food (and takeaway) with a small shop. Caerlaverock Castle is well worth a visit (they have a play area and climbing frame if you have children). For shopping, Dumfries is a short car journey and you'd find everything you wanted there.Safe to say we'll be back again!"

"A pretty little cottage situated in lovely countryside that is both peaceful and secluded but still not too far from Dumfries city centre. You can even order takeaway. The cottage has all the essentials and is warm, comfortable and clean. Our dog loved the area and garden but the garden isn't entirely enclosed and there is a road in front of the cottage. This wasn't a problem for us as our dog won't wander out of sight but if you own a dog that likes to explore then I imagine it would be a very different story. There is a castle within walking distance. (approx 1 mile or so away) and we can recommend The farmers inn for a nice pub lunch. We spent most of our time in the Kitchen/diner playing the many boardgames we took with us or in the garden admiring the views. Our first night was amazing as the sky couldn't have been clearer and with no light pollution the perseid meteor shower couldn't have been more spectacular. Overall we had a lovely short break and we all wished we could have stayed longer."

"Lovely cottage, from the outside you think its going to be small but how wrong you are when you step in. This cottage is lovely and well thought out. it's located down a farm lane and has amazing views. Close to the Wildlife & Wetlands Trust and to the Nature Reserve walk. The cottage could do with being painted inside as general wear & tear have taken their toll and travellers should be aware that although there are plates, crockery etc you need to take everything else for cooking i.e. tinfoil, clingfilm, rubbish sacks & need to take cleaning stuff as none are left for you to clean the cottage on you departure. We also had to buy lightbulbs for the livingroom lamps as none worked and no spares were left. The cottage was clean on our arrival but unfortunately the fire had not been cleaned out and the log basket only contained 4 logs which we assumed were left over from the previous tenant. That being said, we still enjoyed our visit and would go back."

"S23679 is referred to locally as The Tardis - when you walk inside you know why! A very spacious, welcoming house - you can tell immediately that it is also used as a home by the owners rather than just a holiday let. Tastefully and thoughtfully furnished, it had everything we needed. Warm and cosy on chilly days and we sat in the garden room and out in the garden on warmer days. Our greyhound loved that fact that it backs onto a large sandy beach and spent most of the week running up and down. Coastal walks in both directions were stunning. The Harbour Inn is dog (and human) friendly and does good pub grub and there is a Fish & Chip van that visits on Fridays. We didn't use the local shop as we were warned it was quite limited, but there is a good Co-Op in Wigtown and larger supermarkets in Newton Stewart. We had a wonderful week and look forward to returning."
