"Location was superb. Easy walk down to the shops, cafes and river of Pooley Bridge, and the ferry terminal. Easy car access to much of that area of the Lake District. The view from the kitchen door is superb, and the one from the sitting room and dining room is OK.The exterior is nothing to write home about. Indeed, the outside area is virtually non-existent. The front is a tiny patch of paving slabs with a few shrubs and a bench (with a little step in front of it, not a big drop as they seemed so keen to warn us about in the listing). Other than that there is the tarmac drive and a bare paving slab path squeezing along the side to a hard area at the back for hanging out laundry, all surrounded by a shabby, falling-down fence. Previous visitors have obviously also come expecting space for children to run around and play, which has led to a big sign near the door warning not to play on the road or anywhere else other than the village sports field behind one of the pubs. This was fine for us given the weather, but I feel it is worth warning people who are attracted by the bunk beds into thinking it is perfect for children. It was possible to get a good wind through the bungalow, which was wonderful in the heatwave we were experiencing. The interior is very dated, to be polite. Actually, it is old enough to give the feel of being dirty and grubby even though it was actually clean. The free-standing fridge behind the kitchen door led to many collisions as opening the fridge door blocked the opening of the door to the rest of the house. The en-suite furnishings were a depressing brown and the majority of furniture throughout looked like a mismatch of things picked up in cheap auctions. The beds in the twin room were seriously uncomfortable, leaving me with back pain every morning (and this from someone who is happy camping). The shower in the main bathroom had the knob on backwards; I spent a very long time trying to work out why it was running cold before I found it mentioned in the visitors' book by a previous holiday-maker.Only one small roll of toilet paper was left in each bathroom, so you should remember to bring your own. Similarly, be prepared with your own cooking oil and all other kitchen staples. In summary, it is in a good location for visiting that part of the Lakes, but you'll want to spend as little time in the actual bungalow as possible."

"Very much enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful cottage, tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The only criticism, though it's not really a criticism is the room with the twin beds in. The room is not that big and has two beds in with wood frames with sharp corners. Both my kids were constantly banging their legs on them. Probably some divan beds without sharp corners would be betterWe found Bowness to be an excellent base, it is very busy but has everything you need here and there are lots of beautiful places to visit within easy driving distance. We very much enjoyed our time here and would definitely consider returning."

"The cottage was comfortable.large living area with very large windows looking onto trees. unfortunately the road noise was greater than expected and as the weather was gloriously warm opening the windows exposed us to the road noise. The stairs are narrow and steep and as we are in our late 70's going down to the bathroom stressed the knees! had we been younger no problem and the bedrooms were comfortable and adequate.5 minutes walk(at 70+ year-old pace!) to shops restaurants pubs etc and 10 minutes to the Lake. The apartments close proximity to civilisation means that despite problems we would consider staying there again."

"A cosy well equipped house that we all enjoyed staying in. The upstairs floors are very warm and toasty, downstairs can be a little chilly in cold weather so we chose not to use that room. It is worth noting that the stairs are very steep and narrow to get down, plus if visiting with small children there are no stairgates. We found we had everything that we needed and there was lots of space, kids loved the board games and the fact that there was wifi!I'm sure we will be back. A real plus is the location, easy access to Bowness and Windermere, lots of places to walk our dog and parking is not a problem at all."

"We are a Reading Group of 4 couples from Merseyside who stayed at Algars Garth in early March when it was very cold and there was a strong cold Easterly wind. However, from the moment of our arrival, when Neville and Maire greated us warmly, we had the most lovely of weekends. The house was warm, roomy, full of character and well-equipped with a great attention to detail. We had several walks, visited the local pub, and enjoyed being together in the lovely warm lounge, cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, and eating in the spacious dining room. It filfilled our needs perfectly, for which we were very grateful."
