Unsurprisingly, many of the things to do here centre around the gorgeous coastline. There are three beaches to choose from; so whether you’re looking for rock pools or sandcastles there will be a spot for you. The offerings of local fish are delicious, but there is also top notch pub grub on offer here too. Further inland don’t miss the famous Bembridge Windmill. It’s the last surviving one on the Island and is cared for by the National Trust. From rambling along the coast to lounging on the beach, this seaside gem is a welcome place to rest and recharge.

"The cottage was bright, fresh and spotlessly clean. It's a small property which has been opened up and extended downstairs in a way that makes very good use of the available space, with an open plan feel to the living, dining and kitchen area. This meant that even on the few rainy days we had, the white walls and modern furniture ensured that downstairs still felt light and spacious. The garden is lovely......very quiet and private, with a summer house at the end where you can sit and have a glass of wine on a sunny evening, and there's also a wooden dining table and chairs so you can eat outside when the weather's nice. We brought our dog with us, and the garden is completely enclosed and safe, so we didn't have to worry about her at all.The bedrooms are nicely decorated, but definitely on the small side, which is to be expected in a two bedroom cottage. The bottom of the double bed in the main bedroom is only about a foot away from the wall, but it's still a very nice room, quiet and tranquil.Storage wise, there aren't any wardrobes as such, but the main bedroom has two chests of drawers and a large recessed cupboard with hanging rails inside, plus two large shelves. There is a small chest of drawers in the smaller bedroom. The bathroom is nice, I found the shower to be perfectly adequate, but both my children mentioned that the pressure dropped a few times when they used it. The kitchen is very well laid out and really well equipped with everything you could need. There's plenty of worktop and cupboard space, a microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and there's a big cupboard in the living room housing the iron and ironing board, plus sweeping brushes etc., and various board games. The cottage is fantastic if you have a dog, as the vendor also provides dog bowls, and even a blanket and dog poop bags. We also found that the island has plenty of dog friendly beaches, and every pub and cafe/restaurant we went in allowed dogs on leads. The cottage is situated in an extremely quiet location. We stayed for a week in the May half term, and it was still very quiet and peaceful. We brought our car, so we were out and about most of the time exploring the island, but there is a handy mini supermarket 5 mins walk from the cottage if you run out of anything. The parking space that has been provided on a nearby property is really useful, as I think it would be quite tricky to park otherwise. As other reviewers have mentioned, the steps leading up to the property are quite steep, and slightly uneven, but I think this would only be a problem if you have mobility problems, or have young children in buggies. We didn't use the buses, so I can't comment on those, but I think there is a bus stop nearby. We really enjoyed staying in the cottage, and would definitely stay there again. The only suggestions I would make are that it would have been nice to have a tumble dryer in the conservatory area of the kitchen, as it was tricky getting towels dry on our few rainy days. Also, maybe it would be possible to squeeze a small wardrobe in the smaller of the two bedrooms, instead of the chest of drawers? Other than that it was perfect!"

"Lovely cottage with fresh, simple decor. Owners provide a very generous welcome pack and the cottage is superbly equipped with games, kitchen items and even dog towels/bowls. Very small, which was just fine for a week, but any longer would have been a trial. For instance, there was barely any room to move around main bed, so lots of bashed knees going to the loo in the night. Sofas were a little uncomfortable for 2 adults and 2 children. However, to be expected as the property is old, small and sweet and, in a way, this is it's charm. Front steps are a little perilous - fine for us, but could be tricky for some. The property details do forewarn of this though. We found we loved the quieter beaches in the South over the busier ones in the East with lots of tacky shops, so in the end, this was not the best location for us."

"We were delighted with S14178: it was very well equipped and maintained with lots of personal touches which made it feel like home - this was particularly important as we didn't have good weather so were in the cottage rather more time than we planned. The space in the bedrooms was tight; the upside was watching the sun rise over the sea from the front bedroom. We stayed there mid September when it wasn't busy and were able to park right outside the cottage every day. There are a lot of steps up to the cottage but most are just a few inches high and, apart from arrival and departure when there was a lot of trips to and from the car, they were not a problem (and we are in our 60s and 70s!). Lovely holiday despite the weather, Brading was a great base for exploring the east of the island by car and several good pubs. Enjoy!"

"The property was ideally situated - the lovely beach at Yaverland being close by. The cottage itself was lovely. It was very clean and tidy, and had everthing you could possibly need in the kitchen. It also had a great selection of games. The summer house had a lovely view and was great to sit out in the evening with a glass of pimms and a book!!The wooden floor and stairs were a little slippy and care was needed coming down the stairs as there is a glass door directly at the bottom. My biggest gripe was the parking!! It had said there was room for parking two cars! We were lucky if we found one space 100+ yards away.Unpacking the car when we arrived was a nightmare!Other than the parking I would definitely return and recommend.Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday."

"Worst cottage we have ever had- no welcome pack or king size bed as advertised single mattress - springs gone . Owners personal belongings left in cupboards and draws- toiletries/ wine / underwear / personal food etc. Central heating old and very noisy . Shower over bath slow and cold- the one attached to the bath - no pressure. Front door difficult to close- we used the back door throughout the stay . Mugs all stained - in fact the whole cottage needed a clean as there were cobwebs everywhere . Washer door faulty and dishes washer we didn’t use as information book as you to ‘ treat with respect’ as it was old ! Understand this property has not been rated - but definitely needs to visited - Not up to the standard of any cottage we have had via cottages.com"
