"Our main concern when booking this cottage was the potential for traffic noise as it's so close to the A1, but we needn't have worried as it was wonderfully quiet and the views to Bamburgh Castle were a real bonus. The house itself is very tastefully furnished and the main living space and dining area we found very comfortable. The kitchen is super small but all the appliances were fully functioning, although some families may miss the lack of a separate microwave. The beds in both bedrooms were the main problem for us, the mattress in the double room was too soft for our liking and the twin beds were not best suited to two young teenaged boys. We didn't find the outdoor eating space too appealing as the bbq was tipped onto the ground and the sight of a large gas tank close by was a turn-off. However the peaceful front garden with regular visits from rabbits was lovely. The wifi wasn't working for us, but we took it as an opportunity to unplug from the net for a few days. The collection of books, dvd's and welcome hamper were all very welcome and any minor issues we had were very promptly dealt with by the owner. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and just a little extra care would have made it even more special."

"The positive bits! * The cottage was well described, cosy and a home-from-home, which is what I wanted. * A good location for exploring that part of Northumberland. * Represented good value for money for the time of year. * I would stay there again. Aspects to consider improving upon: * Generally the cottage was in good condition, albeit the small sofa appeared quite old and was not as comfortable as I would have liked. * The kitchen was well equipment and of a good standard in general. Some of the cooking pots and pans were worn and showing their age. * When removing the bedding on the final morning before leaving, it was only then that I noticed that the pillows were quite badly stained underneath the pillow case and did look poor. Pillows should perhaps be changed more regularly. These are suggested aspects to improve the cottage and irrespective of the above, I would book the cottage again. It was a good holiday. Ian Dolman"

"The cottage was very conveniently situated to the main route through Northumberland and yet was just off the beaten track and so peaceful. There were fantastic views over open countryside to Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need including bathrobes and binoculars! The front garden was as good as a bird sanctuary with numerous birds visiting the bird feeders. The back garden had a lovely view up to the woodland and had a barbecue provdided. We will be trying to book for 2010 as we just did not have time to visit all the places in Northumberland in just one week - there is so much choice - excellent beaches, amazing castles, etc. I cannot think of anything to say against the cottage in Belford - it was fabulous."

"The images listed for S3162 do not give the house and garden justice - in reality the property is amazing; the furnishings are quaint and cottage like and of superior quality. The location is superb; nice and quiet like we like it and within easy driving reach of the coastal and inland sights. The property is packed with books, CDs, DVDs, games etc. There was even a badminton set to use in the garden; and although in our 50s we have come home and decided to take up badminton as it was such a buzz! We were welcomed with fresh flowers and biscuits and even some tea bags to get us started. The internet was magic and worked better than at home. We had a great time and will definately return."
