Joanne Burling - verified booking
" The Bryer is a very comfortable cottage - the living space and wet room are very generously proportioned, and the sofa and armchairs are genuinely comfy to curl up on. The kitchen was well equipped (dishwasher, toaster, oven & hob, microwave, washing machine) and had plenty of pots and pans. But the best thing about it is the beautiful view across the fields and down to the river. There are chairs just outside the back door and another bench just a short walk away, which was the most lovely place to sit quietly admiring the landscape. A really relaxing and quite place to be. My husband and I wanted to explore the some of the local sights (Rye, Dungeness, the various National Trust properties in the region - Scotney Castle is a must!) and the location of the cottage worked really well for our forays. The road to actually get to the vineyard is a long and narrow track so might be hard work if you have a car that sits very low to the ground, and we did struggle to find the correct track when we first arrived, and actually ended up at another vineyard along the same road! Don't follow the brown vineyard signs along the road! We received a friendly welcome from the owner and met the lovely (soppy) dogs when we arrived but didn't see anyone else for pretty much the entire time we were there, which was great! Overall, very good."

"Even the WiFi & Prime on TV worked which was a bonus not sure about mobile phone signal. Fantastic location for Rye, National Trust properties,Great Dixter (A must) Charleston (Bloomsbury Set). Abundance of walks some from front door the Rye OS map very useful. Winchelsea was great location for a circular walk partly on 1066 Way with blinding lunch at Queens Head Icklesham - good find. Parking safe over the road. Had the efficient log burner going a couple of nights so very cosy. Great gas cooker range with some essentials which is a benefit to save dashes to shops for salt, sugar etc. The Tuscan Restaurant Rye superb experience for a special meal out. Kino Rye cinema shows all latest films and lovely theatre. OK, not suitable for someone not mobile or young children as step tight stairs and a couple of low doors. Lashings of hot water for bath or showers and button does work for emersion just no light comes on. Nice back garden for summer visits."

"Beautiful cottage, spacious and clean and a full fridge as welcome! The cottage has a great view over a valley. Warm and welcoming owners are always ready. The location is completely free and there is plenty of rest and space big lawn to play for children, meadow full of sheep as a view, many birds (woodpeckers, pigeons Owls, swallows) and during the day a steam train running through the valley .... A magnificent place! Little disadvantage is the dirt road of ± 2 km to the cottage, because you need a good car! Hiking, castles and gardens to visit and the coast is also close by. Greater cities and attractions need to be a little longer."
