"The cottage was clean and comfortable. Our mattress was an orthopaedic memory topped mattress but we sank into the middle and the springs pinged and basically we didn’t sleep the entire time we were there. However, everyone is different with their mattress preferences so I can’t knock them for this, it just didn’t suit us. The kitchen was fully equipped, but had no baking trays (we couldn’t find any) for the oven which was a pain but we muddled through. Toaster, microwave, knives, bottle opener, dish washer etc all there. (Bring your own handwash and dishwasher tablets). The underfloor heating on the stone floor was lovely. Very nice modern touch and kept cold feet at bay. Staff on site were very friendly and efficient. Even gave us a bottle of white wine as a welcome gift on arrival which was a lovely touch and much appreciated! The swimming pool was clean, the kids loved it! Found it easy enough to put the cover on after use if your the last ones out at night. WiFi - you can request a 4G data box at £5 per 1GB. It’s cheaper and better to add on a data package to your phone plan as you can get a full reception and 4G coverage anyway.Nearby there’s plenty to do within a short drive - out of everything we did, Hamsterley Forest was the best. And Coppermine was the nicest for food. The shared swimming pool was a big hit, most of the time we had it to ourselves which was great. And we could watch the kids from the hot tub or the comfort of the sofa so win win! For the price we paid, we would definitely come here again, and get our friends to rent the cottage next door too!"

"What a fantastic cottage! We had the best time staying in S75658 and didn't want to leave. The village was quiet and such a friendly community - we were there for Halloween and our daughter enjoyed handing out sweets to the locals who came around (we put a carved pumpkin outside so they knew they could come knocking) and then went to a few houses who were very welcoming and friendly. The local walking is great and its not far from Lacy's caves, which we were very excited to find were accessible again after previously being closed due to flooding. Local shop (driving distance) in the next village of Langwathby was great, and Penrith nearby has Morrisons, Aldi, Sainsbury's etc. so plenty of options available! There is also a lovely looking cafe a short walk from the house, but unfortunately we were so busy out walking the lakes every day that we didn't get a chance to go and check it out. As with all areas of the lake district, it involves driving...but that is expected anywhere you stay. But as far as the cottage is concerned, it is an exceptionally well equipped cottage which absolutely everything you could need. The hosts are great and were around if we had any questions as they live nearby. The icing on the cake was being able to stay in such a lovely property, relaxing by the fire at the end of the day with the dogs snoring away at our feet. Our week staying at S75658 was fantastic and we cannot wait to go again!"

"We are a family of two adults, a teenager and a toddler. S18634 was a perfect getaway for us all. It's a ten-minute drive from the M6 and about 20 minutes to Penrith. We visited Windermere which took a little over an hour, though there was snow so we were driving with caution. The accommodation is lovely and the photos on the website really don't do it justice. The zip-wire in the garden kept us all entertained and we enjoyed walking around to see the pond with the swans. The crazy golf course was covered in snow when we were there but it looked like it would have been fun for the family. The kitchen is one of the most well-stocked rental property kitchens we'd ever seen - there were more appliances than we have in our own home! The house was warm, despite the weather and there were plenty of books and board games to keep us occupied in the evenings. There are two bathrooms, though no bath. The owners are lovely and strike the perfect balance between being welcoming hosts and leaving you to have your own space. We cannot recommend S18634 highly enough and very much hope to go back again."

"I think there is little point doing reviews unless they are honest. The upstairs and kitchen of S75658 are fine, but the lounge and ‘sun room’ are drab and depressing. The garden is perfect for dogs, but the parking leaves a lot to be desired, as the farmer who keeps his equipment next door is in and out with heavy equipment from early morning. There is not a shop in the village ( not unusual ) but there not being a welcome pack of basics was. We visit several cottages each year and have never been to one that didn’t provide at least bread, milk and usually a bottle of wine. So go prepared. That said the shop in the next village is wonderful and living in a Peak District Village ourselves I thought it was a wonderful facility. There is building work taking place locally even Saturday and Sunday but the company we rented from just said it didn’t bother the owners! Unfortunately , it bothered us as we are used to peace and quiet. We visited most of the Lakes which was the purpose of the visit. The cottage is described as detached but it seems to be attached to the farm buildings behind."

"The two of us enjoyed a very relaxed week at S94613 with our two dogs. The cottage was well equipped, clean, comfortable and spacious. Tourist attractions need a car journey, but there are some lovely walks from the door, which added to the relaxed nature of our holiday. The owners, who live next door, made us feel genuinely welcome. They were friendly and informative about the area without being intrusive. A kitchen item that I felt would benefit the cottage was produced within a day or so, without any fuss. Excellent service, with a smile! Our (well-behaved) dogs were welcome, not just 'tolerated'. This was evident in being encouraged to make use of the owners' large garden with its beautiful views. Our older dog likes to do a bit of sunbathing (with us present), so he really enjoyed lazing on the upper lawn with it's splendid vista! A wonderful bonus for us all when it was just too hot to walk all day!We look forward to a return visit and would certainly recommend the cottage. Thank you Sue and Phil."
