"A lovely conversion of a barn in a very convenient location on the edge of Leek, but with stunning views of the Roaches and Staffordshire Moorlands. Everything was beautifully clean and comfortable, very tasteful, calming and lovely - even better than it looks in the photos. The enclosed garden space was particularly welcome, and we enjoyed seeing the horses coming and going from the stables. There are great walks, lovely pubs and cafes, and fab shopping all on the doorstep - this is such an underrated area of the country, and we enjoyed it hugely. The owners were very helpful and friendly too. There were a few tiniest of niggles - we've got used to having things like dishwasher tablets/powder, extra toilet rolls and a few kitchen essentials (salt, cooking oil etc.) being provided at self-catering properties we have stayed in recently, just things that make a holiday cottage move into the 'excellent' bracket from the 'really good' bracket. A bigger cafetiere and more tea-towels would also have been most welcome. But really, these were very minor details, and we highly recommend this property."

"We found this wonderful accommodation on the edge of the peak district after being let down by a previous booking , i have to say this was excellent , a well thought out designed barn conversion and very well equipped , the area is lovely and a great location for exploring other areas too which are only a short drive away Ashbourne , Leek and Alton towers if your into that etc , we mainly had a relaxing get away and it is definitely what we needed, there is a pub about 2 mile if you prefer to drive instead of walk which we did as i have a bad leg , the Star at Cotton , excellent food and very cheerful staff , the soaked ham in cider is a must on a Sunday, all in all great place to stay , proprietors are a lovely couple and recommend a stay at 'Jacobs barn ' . 5 star from me *****"

"Absolutely fantastic views from property. Owners really friendly and welcoming. Property is excellent the pictures on the website don't do it justice. We are really pleased we chose this place to stay. It has everything you need to stay for a longer period. We booked for a month and loved every minute of it. So much so we have booked the property again. Ten minute walk from the centre of leek and has a lovely local pub the Red Lion which is a must to visit and have a meal. We were allowed to bring our dog as well which was a massive benefit for us. Lots of lovely walks locally for the family and dog of course. A massive 10/10 from us regarding our stay. If you are looking for somewhere to stay near Leek you would be foolish to not at least consider this holiday let."

"We had a text from Mel on Friday before we were due to arrive, that although the heating wasn't previously working it would be fixed by Saturday. We arrived Monday to find a freezing cold cottage with only two electric radiators, the main radiators were not working at all, nor was the underfloor heating downstairs. A plumber who was working on the place didn't know what the problem was and had been unable to get into our cottage to see to anything. We had to keep our coats on in the cottage on Monday and Tuesday because it was so cold. There were not enough pillows for the bed, and the place was so dusty, with cobwebs round all the lights. We were concerned that a plastic bag had been wrapped around the smoke detector in the kitchen. (dangerous?)"

"We’ve just had a fantastic 4 day break with our twin 4 year old boys and our little dog. The cottage was absolutely perfect, cozy while perfectly spacious with everything we needed. Very dog friendly! Lovely welcome pack for us on arrival and one for the dog too! Well equipped and great owners who responded quickly to sort out any little problems. Good shower, great tv, comfy furniture (bed bit too soft...probably ready for new mattress... but everything else spot on!) 15 mins or so drive to fantastic sandy beach and bit further to forest for some exploring (kids love it)! Trampoline in garden was a big hit with the children and dog walks on your doorstep! Really lovely little place to base yourself. Would definitely return."
