"Good wee cottage that is a little bit bigger than it looks in photos. We thought it might feel a bit 'hemmed in' at the rear but the patio area was very nice with good quality picnic table/bench. We expected very poor weather but had a few nice days. Although the kitchen is small it was fine for cooking and eating in, especially as there were only two of us. Slight issue with the fridge storage but it worked OK and we managed fine. I understand from the owner a previous guest broke the door shelf in the fridge and the fridge will have to be replaced. As the owner points out, the stairs are definitely not for anyone with mobility problems and I would be concerned about younger children as I saw no stair gate. On a personal level, I would have liked a small wardrobe to hang clothes in and a chest of drawers in the main bedroom rather than under bed drawers. I think if I was the owner I would use the under bed drawers for linen storage rather than the wooden chests (nice though they are), and I would have at least one chest of drawers for guests in the main bedroom. As there were only the two of us we used the drawers in the bunk room and hung shirts on the bunk beds. On our return home I contacted the owner with some info re a building matter and received a very pleasant reply thanking me for the effort. We are familiar with the area and can recommend the location for visiting the East Neuk, St Andrews and also Dundee (about an hours' drive away). My husband and I enjoyed our stay at S23301 and we would recommend it to friends and family we felt it would suit. Hopefully we will be able to return again in the future."

"It has been done up quite nicely inside. Close to sea but too close to the pub directly opposite across the narrow street and although not overly loud we were aware of patrons standing outside talking late at night. Parking is limited and you take a chance on finding a space. It does in fairness mention the steps. For access these are awkward and internally include a steep staircase, narrow carpeted treads, to be honest we felt they were dangerous, not suitable for anyone a little unsteady. Unfortunately we just couldn't get comfortable. We were hoping to be able to relax and overlook the Sea, it does look out to sea but be aware that the windows are typical narrow cottage ones which are maybe 'cute' but we found that you couldn't really sit and gaze out of them to the sea which was a pity. You can of course sit on the patio but for comfort take some comfy recliners. A gate from the garden leads to a rocky coastline with rock pools and pebbles, ok for some limited exploring but not good for walking. There is birdlife around and we did see some passing dolphins, the fishing boats are also out and about picking up their pots. I'm sure for some people it would be fine and the guest book had a lot of positive feedback, just didn't do it for us unfortunately and we packed up a couple of days early"

"The cottage is in a great location, ideal for the coasatal path and close to Anstruther and St Andrews. On first inspection, everything looked good. A nice big kitchen with separate dining area and also a dining room. The lounge was a good size and the furniture comfy. The bedrooms looked fresh and clean as did the batheroom and shower room. Some areas looked fairly recently done. The garden is a great size and we were lucky with the weather so were able to take full advantage of the outside seating. However, the following points need to be made:Very dirty windows, inside and out (I know there was a bad srorm but they should have been cleaned as it did not look good for clients),cupboard door broken in upstairs bedroom, elecrtic shower in twin bedded room very innadequate, shower hose in bathroom very dirty, skirt left in wardrobe in front bedroom, springs coming through single bed downstaird, single bed against the radiator dangerous, especially if children are in there, widow sills and picture frames dusty, a large quantity of beer bottles left at the bins, two drawers stuck open in kitchen dining area a hazard. However, the location is so great that we would stay agin even though thar single bed(downstairs) was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Time to renew the mattress?"

"Have previously visited Lower Largo (my father's birthplace - the Selkirk connection). There is plenty to do in Fife and neighbouring counties no matter which direction you decide to go. Cardy House is a delight and very well equipped - even down to home made bread and jam.Simon and Becca have supplied everything that one is ever likely to need. The area is good for cycling, walking and swimming in the Firth of Forth (or in Leven Leisure Centre swimming pool nearby). Eat and drink in the Crusoe pub and The Railway Inn both about a ten minute walk away. There are plenty of small fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife. The fish and chips in Anstruther or Pittenweem not to be missed. Buy any fresh produce, meat and lots of other products from the farm shops of which there are many. In a nutshell, definitely worth a visit Reversing into the drive is tight and there is a blind spot when leaving but the road outside is quiet so not really a problem."

"What an absolutely superb property & location, we really couldn’t have wished for more from our stay at S81190. The property is delightfully decorated & furnished, and the finishing touches have obviously been carefully considered to suit the overall comfort and style of the property and guests needs. The views from the dual aspect windows in the lounge over looking the harbour are stunning, we were so lucky that the weather decided to be kind to us during our short break that the sunrise & sunsets were just beautiful. We were privileged to watch seals from our window just feet away in the harbour every day of our stay, we were hoping for an odd sighting at best! There’s loads to do in the surrounding areas, or just relax and explore Pittenweem and it’s little hideaways. We can’t wait to go back but for longer next time."
