"The cottage has been modernised in the recent past and has a lovely big kitchen and lounge. There is plenty of room for 6 people and a good supply of towels, bedding and kitchen equipment. The welcome basket of goodies was a nice touch. However, it would have been helpful to have a Conn Cottage sign which would have made finding the property easier. Car parking is not available near the cottage as advertised in the brochure but the proprietor of the local shop over the bridge let us use his car park for unloading and loading and then we had to drive 300 yards or so and leave the cars in the car park at the village hall. Not easy with a baby and two dogs! The main problem for us was that the back garden is not secure and needs a garden gate erecting to protect dogs and children from the brook at the front of the property. The gardens need sprucing up as they are overgrown and untidy with trees blocking the view of the mountains at the back , The picnic table is grubby and there were bits and pieces of debris, eg a bucket full of dirty water, an old paddling pool, in the back garden. The covers on the sofas and chairs are grubby with dirty cushions. Sky TV etc available but not used by us. We could not find a key to unlock the patio doors in the kitchen and the cooker hood did not work. The internal doors squeaked and the back door was difficult to open and close. The bathroom and en-suite were had been well cleaned but the showers were mildewed and the bathroom had some broken floor tiles.Overall a large cottage, cleaned very well but in dire need of some tlc."

"Great location to explore the lakes, the cottage is in a lovely quiet village with good access to all areas of the lakes, with haweswater only a couple of miles walk down a very peaceful road. The welcome gift was a nice touch. Overall the cottage was beautiful and very well stocked with everything you will need to prepare anything from a quick sandwich to a full roast dinner. Very cosy lounge and the main bedroom with its feature wall was lovely. The only thing that let the cottage down a little was the overall attention to cleanliness, it was by no means dirty but just a little more time cleaning before we arrived would have made the whole stay perfect.I would, without hesitation stay here again, stunning house in a stunning location in the most beautiful area of the country. Just needs a good thorough clean, especially the kitchen and the dog hairs on the sofas."

"We had seen Conn Cottage previously when visiting the area, and thought it pretty so were happy to book. Unfortunately ... since our last visit the pub around the corner was no longer open to the public which meant travelling further afield in the evenings; the lady in the shop opposite makes you feel as if she is doing you a favour by serving you which is a real shame as we would have used the shop much more had she been more friendly; the beds are a bit uncomfortable; the outdoor space is a bit dismal and the cottage generally, although really well laid out, feels as if it has had a very busy season and is in need of a good spring clean and some TLC.Having said all of this, we did have a pleasant week there."

"Amazing, cosy cottage. Very well equipped with all mod cons. Immaculately clean, new bathroom and very rustic furnishings of good quality. We found the cottage to be much better than the photos do justice. Welcome basket on arrival was a very nice gesture and a wealth of information and resources such as games, books, etc. We went with two friends and our toddler and 7 month old baby and we all had a fantastic time. Lovely real fire; could go on an on. Oh, and great country pub nearby, serves amazing food and was welcoming of us all, babies included. Would definitely book this cottage again, I just can’t fault it. Owners were very friendly on the phone. You won’t be disappointed! March 2009."

"The cottage was beautifully renovated with all mod cons and was perfect for our two families to stay comfortably but it needed a good clean, the shower and bathroom had mould and mildew and some of the work surfaces and floors hadn't been cleaned and this was important to us with having crawling babies. There was also obvious signs of wear and tear that just needed patching up. Parking is a bit of a pain because you have to park in a car-park, that is a bit of a walk down the road but in general this was a lovely place to stay, very peaceful and off the beaten track."
