What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Baddidarroch To Rent.
- Mrs Gordon, September 2018 - verified booking
"We had a problem with the gas supply to the hob which became a major disruption to our holiday. The gas supply to the hob was erratic with a very small flame eventually appearing on the rings for the first few days of the holiday. By Wednesday there was no gas coming through at all. We had to drive about a mile to get a phone signal as there was no WiFi or landline in the house on several occasions throughout Thursday, speaking first to a local contact and then on three occasions to yourselves. Each telephone conversation occasioned a separate trip as we waited for some progress. Eventually the owner (Simon) contacted my husband and advised he could not get a gas engineer until the following morning. That evening, we eventually managed to get some gas at the hob enough to cook a meal for our visitors. Catherine then arrived with her daughter and interrupted our dinner saying she had to take a photo of the gas hob for Simon. The following morning (Friday) Catherine arrived just after 9am with a gas engineer who eventually managed to fix the problem by installing a new regulator to the gas cylinder. The whole incident was very inconvenient and disappointing. Separately, I would comment that the cottage had a lack of homeliness in that the bare necessities were present but there were, for example, no coathooks, no towel rail or hooks in the bathroom, no pictures on any of the walls, no cushions on the sofa and no additional blankets in the bedrooms. Also there were no instructions on how to operate any appliances and very minimal information about the local area. There was no information about local services, Doctor, Shops, Restaurants etc. Finally, the garden was described as a "lawn" but was very rough terrain and pasture with cow dung all over the area. These may seem trivial points but such features do make a positive difference to the feel of a holiday home. The wood-burning stove appeared to be poorly installed and was uncontrollable and there was no information on local supplies of firewood. We have used self-catered properties for over 25 years and whilst S45353 looked appealing on your website I would have to rate it as a poor experience."

"The further we got towards our house, the more it seemed like the end of the world (in a positive sense). Wonderful and peaceful! A small grassy area with about eight houses on a small bay. The house is well-equiped only is the double bed too small for two tall people and the seats are very saggy. Stuff kitchen and bathroom are excellent contrast. The magnificent view over the bay, where we sometimes saw seals swimming, makes this a paradise place. The nearby village of Lochinver offers only the most essential groceries and a few restaurants. Through treaties with the EU in this once thriving port town just one afternoon a week fresh fish (from Ullapool) are purchased. The value of this corner of the world is for us the extremely friendly people and the great, fierce-empty nature. We want to come back!"

"We enjoyed the nightly visits from the badger and pine martens. We have never seen so many Roe deer in one area. The beach at Achmelvich is beautiful and worth it's no. 1 beach award. The dogs loved their stay especially the local and not so local beaches at Clachtoll, Clashnessie, Achanaird and Durness. The popularity of the NC500 has ruined the experience for us as we visited previously in '90's when single track roads were everywhere and the idiots in their sports cars know nothing about the true Highlands. It's an excuse for bad drivers to excel in their badness! Loved our stay but won't be returning anytime soon but hope everyone who does stay will continue to look after the garden visitors. The treated woodworm is a bit off putting and the headroom upstairs is an issue if your 6' 4"!!"

"These lodges are saved, you look from the living room directly to the sea where you can see the sun every evening to go under. There is a large luxury house in the present, there is even a DVD player, a VCR, a dishwasher, washing machine with integrated dryer, microwave and conventional oven, too many to mention. The managers are very friendly people who insist to award that is possible, all the rest of you see them only at check-in if you have problems. Comes on the grass around the lodges every day a mother deer with her little grazing, which is wonderful. In the house itself, there are folders to find that there are several tips for things to do in the area and in the rest of Scotland. But here you have especially come to rest and to enjoy the phenomenal scenery!"

"If youre looking for a base from which to explore the fantastic otherworldness of Assynt, then you need look no further. As previous reviews have stated, this cottage has it all-ive stayed in many cottages over the years and this is the one I'll be returning to. After days out exploring,it was wonderful to walk back through that door into the welcoming comfort of S22858 Cottage then spend time waiting for and subsequently watching the Deer and Bats which visit every night. I loved every second of my time here.I'm writing this a week after returning home and everywhere i look i can still see that beautiful place. Would i rebook? A resounding YES."
