What our customers are saying about our Baby Friendly Cottages In France To Rent.

"The property is a charming three-story ‘mini’ chateau on the edge of a tiny village. The rooms are large, but without character or comfort, and none of the chairs or sofas were easy to sit on. The garden chairs were the most comfortable, so we used them indoors. From the moment we arrived we were treated with suspicion as irresponsible, careless and even possibly as thieves. The first thing we were asked to do was count all the plates, glasses, cups, knives, forks, spoons, cooking utensils, pots, and pans to confirm that the list they provided was correct. We were asked for €200 in cash as a deposit, and were charged for electricity, sheets and pillowcases, and towels. All incidentals were charged for, nothing was included in the rental fee of the property. At the end of our stay, we had to wait for an hour while everything was counted again by the caretaker to make sure we hadn’t broken or taken anything. Then the electricity and other charges were deducted, and the balance of the deposit was returned. In spite of this very careful monitoring, quite a few items in the property were broken when we arrived –– a shower, a towel rack, the kettle (which we were told would not be replaced even though the broken kettle was sitting in the kitchen when we arrived). WiFi, although existing, was very slow, approximately 1MB. All in all, it could have been a relaxing holiday, except that the constant concern about breakages and penalties pervaded the atmosphere. It was not a welcoming or homely feeling."

"Nice large barn coversion with 5 bedrooms all ensuite. The property is in an isolated location (in a tiny hamlet of a few houses) so is incredibly quiet. It might be considered to be located a little bit away from the tourist hotspots of the Dordogne valley, however we found the location convenient as it is mid-way between the Dordogne and Lot valleys so all the tourist hot spots of both were no more than 45-60 mins way (Rocamadour, Sarlat, Cahors etc). The nearest sizeable town is Gourdon (15 mins by car) which has all the facilities you need including a few brasseries/restaurants and a couple of large supermakets, and large Saturday market. The nearest bakery is in Salviac (10 mins by car) and there is an auberge in S117910 (5 mins by car/20 mins walk) selling incredibly cheap but very filling meals. There is off road parking for about 3 cars. There is a nice good size swimming pool and terrace which is in the sun all day. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed. Towels and bed linen are provided. The owners (British) live on site in the house next door and were very friendly and gave lots of advice. They also fixed a couple of issues promptly such as the DVD not working. Note they no longer offer the cooked meals or wine tours mentioned by other reviewers, but they did give us a lift to the auberge!Overall this is a very nice holiday gite and we had a great holiday."

"The cottage was well equipped and comfortable but was spoilt by a smell of dogs downstairs - particularly in the cushions. As soon as you went in you could small them and not being "dog people" we found it unpleasant. The only other thing that wasn't up to standard was that although the details promised that towels would be provided they were inadequate. We were only provided with a small hand towel each and so had to use our beach towels for showering. The cottage was well placed for exploring the area but it was on a busy road. This should have been made clear in the brochure."

"Alan and Margaret are great hosts and very helpful in all situations. The enclosed gardens have different areas and are very dog safe and friendly. Alan & Margaret have worked very hard to make it this good ( and still are ). Our dog really enjoyed himself playing with Lucy and the other visiting pooches. The accommodation is not far from La Rochelle, Rochefort and other well known places so days out are enjoyable as is the return to the peace of gardens where you can choose to sit in the sun or the shade. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and could well return in the future.🌞⛱ 👍🐕"

"The garden was really lovely and all the recreation facilities were excellent - pool, tennis court etc. We were surprised that things like toilet paper, hand wash and dish washer tablets were not supplied. The house was big enough for 2 families but cooking for large numbers was difficult with the small oven which also tended to tip over when the door was opened. There was plenty of parking and easy access to woodland walks and the shops in Hennebont. We had to use a local Doctor who could not have been better."
