"This was the worst holiday cottage I have stayed in at Lavenham and I have stayed in most of them over a period of many years. There was continuous noise in the cottage from an underground water leak which aggravated my medical condition. I should have been informed of this before my holiday start date and given the offer to cancel. I contacted the owner but was given the impression they were not interested. (we have your money, so hard luck). Two of the chairs at the table in the kitchen could not be used as the frames were loose and the seats worn out. There was too much clutter in the cottage leaving no place to put ones own items. Most of the plants in the back garden were dead and the patio needed a good sweep up but there was no broom supplied. Also no bread bin and no washing up bowl and I had to clean out the kitchen sink before I could use it. The teapot could not be used as it was too filthy. I was told a welcome PACK would be supplied, all that was left for me was a cheap bottle of wine (one item is not a PACK ?) and I found a note "pick flowers from garden" (There were no flowers in the garden). There was no details in the cottage regarding working the central heating, cooker, internet connection etc. I sent a letter of complaint to the owner enclosing a S.A.E. but he failed to reply direct to me. I could not find any owner contact details in the cottage. It should have been mentioned in the details that the cottage is on a main road and has no double glazing, hence traffic noise as well as noise the from water pipe).By reading through the visitors book in the cottage I saw that I was by far not the only client to complain about this property."

"We had a lovely week at the cottage and Lavenham is a lovely place the two pubs in the village were good but a little expensive , the cottage was comfortable only negative I can find is too much clutter in the sitting room, too many side tables, taking out a couple would make room for another armchair , as the cottage sleeps 4 one of us had to sit on a side chair like a dining chair which isn't very comfy, otherwise a nice little room, the bedrooms are lovely and beds so comfy and inviting we slept like logs, the stairs are very steep although it does state in the description so you need to take care there if you have children or elderly, the bedding was lovely, and each room pointlessly clean. Visit Colchester is fab to visit and we loved east bergholt constable country. I would recommend this property just shame about stairs and seating in living room , also thank you for the vino and fresh flowers."

"The owners, Paddy and Maggie, made us extremely welcome and were keen to ensure that we had a first class holiday. The accommodation was to a high standard with everything we needed during our stay. Whilst the owners were nearby, we had complete privacy in a beautiful setting. We were allowed to walk around the beautiful grounds and also met the sheep, pigs and chickens. There are plenty of paths for walks from the grounds. Parking is shared with B & B guests who stay in the main house (space for all). An option available is to have breakfast or an evening meal in the main house at a reasonable extra charge (subject to availability). We took this up and were treated to superb home cooked food.Nearby villages offer good pubs, much local history, magnificent churches and plenty of local shops with free parking. Lavenham is particularly recommended."

"waterhall cottage is perfect as a rural retreat.standard fare for a three star property, with the bonus of a beautiful 3 acre garden to relax in.it has a big comfy bed and en-suite bathroom, good shower over the bath,a large sitting room with a good selection of books and info on places of interest. the kitchen is small but well equipped should you need to cook, though there are good pubs and tea shops within a 5 mile radius.you will need to take some supplies with you as the shops are not on your doorstep, but this is a small price to pay for the tranquillity you get.do your research, because there are many pretty villages and towns about, set in the rolling countryside of south Suffolk.the accommodation is dog friendly, and last but not least by any means, the lady host ,Sylvia,is lovely.we will readily return."

"We were originally hesitant to rent this cottage, as it looked so full of ornaments and furniture in the pictures. However, because we wanted to stay in Lavenham and it was reasonably priced, we went ahead with booking it.We were so pleased we did, as it was clean, comfortable and after a day or two the décor grew on us! The village is steeped in history. This is a perfect getaway for people who are looking for a quaint, quiet village to stay with no hassle. The Lavenham Walk was such a lovely way to spend an afternoon and we walked all the way to Long Melford. The only downside was the delivery vans to the local Co-Op, as they use the road at the back of the property. But it really wasn't enough to spoil our stay.We would highly recommend this cottage."
