"Having stayed at Sloe Trees on a number of previous occasions I was very disappointed to find that the owners are letting the property degrade. 1.Some of the double glazed windows have blown and were covered with condensation.2. The sofas in the lounge is past their best .3. The surrounds require attention as there are a number of patio tiles that are lose and require resetting. They could be dangerous if small children are running around. 4. The property had, in my opinion, not been cleaned properly and the vacuum cleaner was already half full of muck!5. The smell from the dishwasher was awful when we opened the door of the machine. We closed it up and did not use it all week preferring to wash by hand in the sink.6. The shower over the bath is broken and cannot be used as intended. We had to prop the shower head up as best we could.7. Some how wasps are getting into the bedrooms, even when the windows are closed. On a number of occasions we found dead wasps on the floors.8. Comments about the shower had been made in the visitors book over the past few years but for whatever reason the owners have ignored them!I am not setting anything down here which I did not mention on a note that I left at the property. I also made similar comments in the visitors book myself. In view of the overall condition of the property now I do not consider that it is worth the rate charged. I consider that these points should be taken up with the owners."

"This is a very spacious cottage with all the necessary amenities in the kitchen. The furniture is plentiful and of good quality. It has a secluded garden with a sitting out area. The cottage is tastefully decorated and attractive. There is a sense that the cleaning between visits is very thorough. On the negative side are a number of issues. The site is close to the very busy Fosse Way, and a gravel extraction plant. The plant becomes very noisy from 7.30am onwards, and the diggers are visible from the cottage. Because of the busy road, walks from the house are at best noisy, and, at worst, dangerous. Some double glazing units have broken down, and the resultant condensation trapped between the panes is unsightly. Quite a lot of painted wood is in need of attention.TV was not working on arrival, and needed new batteries, and the WiFi only worked on rare occasions. We did not find the settees comfortable, to the point of back and neck ache, but this is a very personal thing. Re cycling is a joke, I have never read such complicated instructions, and we never found the paper and cans bin, We ended up taking a lot of it home.Despite this, we enjoyed our stay in the beautiful Cotswolds, and would, probably, give Sloe Trees another go. We especially enjoyed the abundance of wildlife viewed from the windows."

"It was a beautiful cottage - clean, tidy and well kept garden. However we had only 1 match and enough logs for a few days, we decided to buy more logs from the garden centre as we were enjoying the fire only to find on our return home there had been a log delivery - had we known we would have unlocked the wood store (instead our boys had the job of putting all logs in the store) my point is that a note from the housekeeper on our arrival would have been appreciated.Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and our boys loved that they learned to play chess with your chess set (which has a pawn missing but we improvised). Even though it was dog friendly and we in fact brought our dog, there were no dog hairs around or doggy smells. The equipment was adequate and it was good to have washer/dryer facilities which meant no holiday washing when we arrived home. The bedroom tv was a bit temperamental - something to do with the scarf connection I think my husband said. There was plenty of water pressure. The light in the ensuite was temperamental in that you had to pull the cord for 3 or 4 seconds before it would switch on.Overall we were impressed with the cottage, facilities and housekeeping service - we very much enjoyed our stay thank you"

"As much as this is a characteristic and genuinely old cottage with much charm ,which we totally wanted.. we found the actual facilities super disappointing. the shower is basically unusable in the main bathroom as there is a huge timber piece right at head level . pretty dangerous. ,similar for the bath which half of our bodies could fit into only!.Also the single room bed was of terrible quality ,it was again barely usable and our little girl got very little sleep. the kitchen was well equipped and really pleasant the front room very nice. The best thing about the cottage sadly was the hamper which was very well put together and greatly appreciated. Im sad ,as this cottage we have stayed in before when my daughter was in a moses basket in the main room and being a smaller party at the time ,it wasn't too bad ,but with max capacity this time, the in laws and a bigger child ! i certainly wouldn't stay again..... its a shame as lower swell is just gorgeous. I think the owner really also needs to look at the flush in the main toilet which was again malfunctioning quite badly and took at least 3 flushes to clear the system ."

"Sloe Trees is a great location for being able to visit other cities as we did, such as Bath and Oxford. The house itself is in need of some care and updating. The owners are selling the property so it seems as if they are reticent to modernise it, even though it is in need of it. The house is a good size with good facilities (a weak but warm shower) but definitely needs to be modernised and windows addressed as there were many flies found dead during our stay.Although marketed as having WiFi, once booked we were told it was limited. In fact during our whole stay we couldn’t access the internet at all so would recommend being prepared for this. Sloe Trees is a lovely property but overall needs a lot of improvement and has needed it for some years, as stated in the visitors book - many visitors have suggested improvements over the years and the property still needs those changes now. It is clear that the owners are not keen to make the changes so can’t see it getting any better."
