What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages In Alnwick To Rent.

"The toilet in the downstairs bathroom could only be used by holding the toilet seat up and sitting sideways. The shower head upstairs needed to be deep cleaned before we could use it. There was no mirror in the double bedroom so used the single front bedroom which walls were in need of decorating. The step up and down from the landing into the single rooms were dangerous and the banister was coming away from the top of the stairs. When we booked the cottage our only stipulation was that the cottage took two small dogs and had an enclosed garden. The small stone walled back yard with no flowers is not a garden with the smell of overflowing bins. The lounge lamp no bulb or spare the ceiling light contained cobwebs and the microwave you could write your name on the dust on the top of it. As for spending quality time in the cottage we only had our breakfast on our knees in the lounge as the kitchen chairs were marked with whatever as was the back door and handle which we cleaned before we could open . We did not leave any of these details in the visitors book so as not to dishearten any future holidaymakers. We enjoyed our holiday in Northumberland as it was a well earned break but it could have been a great holiday if we had stayed in a welcoming home."

"Excellent place to stay if your looking for a walking or cycling break. Made a very good base for us as we were travelling around the area by car, very close to the A1, Alnwick, Warkworth and Amble so plenty to see and do. The owners rang about 5 days before to introduce themselves and to see if we would like anything getting for our arrival, they then met us on the day to go through the various bits and bobs and I must say just about every home comfort was provided. Great parking by the rear entrance enough room for 2 large cars. The house was clean and tidy and I can't remember wanting anything. There was a massive file containing information on just about every attraction for miles around. The village was only small but did have a mini mart, chemist, post office, pizza takeaway and a fantastic Indian restaurant, very popular in the area ! WiFi was included along with a large modern TV and Freeview. Unfortunately we were there in the hot sunny weather which brought about other issues of an insect nature when we went out and about near fields, but with the best will in the world nobody could have prevented that. I can honestly say it was a home from home experiance."

"We enjoyed our stay at S3109. It had everything we could've needed. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of clean towels. The Cottage was clean and cosy. The enclosed back garden was good for the children to play safely. The parking would be an issue if there were more than one car. With this in mind, two of the adults travelled to Embleton by bus, then got picked up there to travel to Christon Bank. This wasn't an issue for us but might put others off booking the Cottage. The road through is extremely busy through the day, with drivers ignoring the 30 mile limit. Therefore children need to be watched closely getting to and from the car. There is not much to do in Christon Bank its self but it is a good base for easy reach of the coast and beautiful beaches of Low Newton and Embleton. The information left in the Cottage about places to visit etc was useful. There was mention of a welcome pack and also of a visitors book to sign. Neither of which we were able to locate in the Cottage. This caused us to wonder how up to date the information file was, but again, not an issue for us. We would definitely consider booking S3109 again for our holiday."

"It’s a nice place. Biggest ‘issue’ is no WiFi, we have come to expect it nowadays. Also, it would be better if it was possible to use the shower attachment over the bath as a stand up shower (a curtain or shower surround) for those that don’t like baths. Other minor things were a) some towels were smelly and marked (maybe too many washed together so not enough water or rotation in the drum), b) only one hairdryer, c) no deep, lidded casserole (having assumed there would be one I had shopped accordingly.. had to improvise), d) very economical supply of toilet paper on arrival. When the oven door fell off the repair was arranged very quickly. Whilst the house was clean ... there was visible dust throughout, some cobwebs and dust on carpets behind the heavy beds. Twin bedroom is tight in terms of space between the beds. I used it as a single but the foot-boards (which have large square tops) gave me a few bruises until I got used to the need to be extra careful. Good location near to Alnwick and the A1. We had a nice time."

"Hiwe recently stayed at S34779, the location is good very central to access all the tourist destinations and the coast, however it is rural so no local shop etc but you would realise that before you book, your only 5mins away from Alnwick in the car.The cottage is lovely and clean and has a great little garden at the front with seating areas so you can while away a few hours sat out here weather permitting! There is no WiFI which was a welcome break for me although my son did miss being able to connect, and it would be useful to research the area whilst you are there. The cottage itself is very comfortable, and we all had a good nights sleep in the comfortable beds, however there is some road noise which was an issue for my elderly dad.Overall a very enjoyable stay"
