"This property is old and tired. Far too much old furniture. Who has a chaise in the toilet, and a great big pink velour chair next to the toilet in the upstairs bathroom, very unhygenic!.The position of the cottage is excelent, however the windows are filthy, and painted shut. The bins are full in the yard, the maintenance staff should pop round on the correct day and get them emptied, I'm afraid I'm not prepared to stagger down the alley with other people's rubbish.Be aware when having a shower. If someone else runs the water when you are in the shower the water will come through very hot.The duvet needs replacing in main bedroom, and some of the cruddy pillows. There was various bits and pieces under the furniture, so not sure how thorough the clean between letting. On arrival downstairs smelt of sewage. They are saniflo toilets and had probably been left unattended.Good points are the towels, and the kitchen is stocked sufficiently. There is a light in the back yard (no one would want to sit out there) and at night it is constantly going on and off. The blind in the upstairs bathroom is broken, so we tried to cover the window, so that the friend in the downstairs was not driven mad by it going on and off.Speaking of the third bedroom, it is stuffed with furniture, and the only way to pull the curtain is to climb up onto the top bunk.I believe that the television downstairs doesn't work. Most importantly NO INTERNET!The cottage needs a good overhaul, and a good clean, so that when you have driven all day, you feel you are pleased at your choice, not going round seeing dust and smells!"

"Probably the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. Spacious; light; comfortable; beautifully furnished; well equipped; contemporary and spotlessly clean. The bed in the main bedroom is huge ( as is the room) and so comfortable! Fabulous bathrooms with walk in showers, but also two deep soaking bathtubs. Lots of storage space! Private parking is allocated just outside the entrance. All that plus very friendly and helpful owners!Beautiful views of the estuary from all front windows and within a few minutes walk of pubs, cafes, shops etc in Alnmouth, as well as the beach and riverside walks. Alnwick is only a short drive away. The location is great for exploring further afield : up and down the coast ; across to the National Park and down to Hadrians Wall. The apartment is reached via a lift ( or stairs) and the downstairs is completely accessible. It's difficult to find fault but the only potential downsides, depending on your needs and preferences are that there is no private sitting out area (at the other side of the small housing development and shared with another property) and the approach road is very steep to walk if you have mobility problems.Overall, a stunning property in a wonderful part of the country. We just loved it , have already recommended it to friends and hope to return. Thank you to Emma and her lovely Dad."

"This is excellent accommodation in a superb setting. The flat is deceptively spacious - much larger than the photos indicate. It's very clean, modern and convenient. The only thing that some might see as a drawback is the fact that it's on the second floor, so there's a fair climb up several flights of stairs. However, the pay-off for this is the wonderful view over the estuary, with its ever-changing aspects and fascinating bird life. (It's worth taking a decent pair of binoculars to make the most of this.) The surrounding area will need no recommendation for those who know it. For those who've never been before, it's arguably the best kept secret in the UK: endless beaches and other lovely scenery, fascinating history, most notably in the many castles dotted around the area. Alnmouth, itself, has some very good pubs and restaurants (Red Lion, Hooked) and there's more quality food a little further afield in places like Craster and Warenford (White Swan). A really great place to visit and excellent accommodation to use as a base."

"Firstly we had a lovely week in Northumberland and Limpet Cottage played its part in making that so. The beachside location is great, the cottage was clean and very well equipped for two people. Linen, furnishings, etc all very nice.We were grateful to the owners for leaving a few gifts for us and this was commented upon in the Visitors Book by others - a nice personal touch.Only downsides were lack of direct lighting by a mirror in the bathroom, just the one overhead light. A cabinet light did not work. Secondly a double bed can be ok but the Sleigh bed with a solid footboard does rather cramp some folks for length. Both points do not constitute a deal breaker but would make life easier.A local bonus came in the form of meals taken at the Fishing Boat Inn, just a minute's walk. Great value and some lovely food albeit in fairly standard pub surroundings but offset by the view and really nice staff. We would definitely recommend Limpet Cottage."

"An excellent time and a lovely cottage exactly where I wanted but I think a few things should be mentioned:1. No mention was made of the lack of parking until I received the final instructions. Luckily, we managed to find a space somewhere in the village every night but it was September. I can imagine that in the summer, finding a space would be well nigh impossible.2. There was broken glass and crumbs amongst the plates that had been laid out on the table for our arrival3. The internet worked for my iPad and for my iPhone, it wouldn't work for my partner's iPhone or for a Mac laptop. Having tried to sort out the problem, I've discovered that BT Hubs are notorious in this respect so maybe the owner should consider a proper router ?None of that spoilt our stay and apart from those things, we had a very nice time."
