"We didn't know quite what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised with the lodge itself. It had all we needed and more, including a record player! haven't used one of them in years! The lodge is one open living area, but with the bedroom part effectively separated from the kitchen/lounge by the bathroom. The bed was really comfortable, the kitchen had all we needed and the lounge had a tv with sky+ (and of course the record player). Quite a lot of the walls were covered with raw wood panels, looked really effective and a rather quirky wooden chair in the bedroom. There is a small private piece of "garden" off to the side of the lodge (to the side of the summer house), with patio table and chairs, and a lay-z-spa hot tub for your use (small extra cost). The lodge is sited between stables and the owners thatched house, the end of which is let out as Longhouse cottage. The lodge overlooks a paddock used by the six Alpacas, although they seemed to spend most of their time in another field beyond the house, they did come up at feeding time (opposite the lodge). The whole site is down the end of a rough road/track so is very secluded and peaceful. The owners were a really nice couple and very friendly. The location is good for access to East Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth, as well as the New Forest, just about 5 miles to the main A31. Roads can be quite busy at peak times of day, so I'd recommend planning that in. There are some nice quiet roads away from the main ones if you like to take the "scenic" routes. We ate out a few times locally; Drusillas Inn, Horton was OK. We ate twice at The Old Inn, Holt, first time (Steak night - Monday) was good, second time, while the food was good service was sloooooow. In short the lodge is a really nice quirky relaxing place. On our list to re-visit another time, thoroughly recommend."

"We enjoyed our stay in this cottage, very conveniently located for town centre shops, restaurants, bars, public transport, the minster, the museum, the cinema and the attractive riverside with its little ferry across to Wick and the longer boat trip to Mudeford. Bournemouth, Dorchester and the New Forest are also in easy day-out distance. We had travelled by train, but the off-road parking was useful when relatives called. For a couple, the spacious main bedroom with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space was fine, but the second bedroom looked as if it might be rather cramped for another two adults. Traffic noise had been mentioned in other reviews and, although we were aware of it at times, we didn't find it very intrusive. It was made clear in the property description that the bathroom was on the ground floor, which, together with the narrow staircase, might not suit everyone. With so much to do nearby, we didn't use the garden area but thought it would benefit from a bit of TLC, and the outdoor table and seating might have appealed more if not so close to the house next door."

"The cottage was lovely, but, because we were there for 2 weeks, I didn't really feel it was set up for a long stay....there were no chest of drawers at all, so we lived out of bags as there was no where apart from a wardrobe to put clothes. Its dog friendly, and we took our 2, but in order to keep the place clean, i.e. muddy floors, we had to go to the pub and ask for a mop and bucket and a hoover. There was no clean towels or bed linen to be able to change during our stay, but was told after a week in, that, yet again, if we went to the pub, they would give us some. At no point were we asked if everything was ok. Internet was intermittent, but after several visits, to, yes, the pub, it was resolved.Sofa in the living room was uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time.Great for a short weekend stay, not ideally equipped for any longer."

"Very disapponited, the location well its the busy road outside and parking onto and out of the drive. And I mean busy 24/7. A restful peaceful holiday it is not. The garden is untidy and I see has been reported before. Inside the cottage the shower just runs hot no temperature control did not use it because of this. When was the last time someone had a look at the old freezer it was just dirty, storage drawers broken it was kept in the back of the garage also untidy. And the sofa cushions are worn out need replacing. Feel the write up on this cottage to be misleading and owners should be asked to make improvements. New freezer and new shower would be a start."

"Wonderful Cottage in a Wonderful Location. Out of the cottage door in the pub door! The pub staff were so helpful, they would let us freeze our ice packs & gave us ice cubes as the fridge in the cottage hasn’t a freezer compartment. The sofa pull-out bed is not long or wide enough for an adult to sleep on, okay for a small child. The cottage is ideal for two adults & a small child. Ideal for your dog, lovely large exercise area. All dog friendly. Our son is in a W/Chair the entrance is accessible. Cottage has a downstairs bathroom. Just need a better sofa bed. We had a Fabulous stay at the Cottage. Thank you."
