"S13908 was in an ideal location for us visiting places around the area - Lewes, Brighton, South Downs South Coast etc, it was clean and well equipped, also a nice touch the owners of the property had left us a complimentary basket of goodies for us to appreciate Tea, Coffee, Biscuits, Sugar etc. and best of all 4 beers left in the fridge just the ticket after a long hot journey. We only met one of the owners Miss Jackson who was very helpful and hospitable and was a pleasure to meet. The minus points of the cottage were that it suffered at times from loud traffic noise from the main road situated close to the property although it wouldn't have been as noisy if we had kept the windows shut but as we were experiencing a heatwave we needed have the windows open.At the back of the property our bedroom suffered from a lack of light as there were some Leyandii trees only a few meters away blocking the light, maybe it would be an idea to cut the hight down a bit. The rear garden looked as if it needed a bit of maintenance, also we had two dogs and it wasn't as enclosed as we had expected it to be (open gaps,) basically the dogs could have easily escaped if we left them unattended for a moment. The cottage spec stated it slept 4 but there was only one lounge chair and sofa that seated 2 so it was a tight squeeze when we had relations stay with us for a couple of days. Apart from those discrepancies we really enjoyed our stay at S13908."

"The house and location are fine. The problem we had was with support when something went wrong and the owner, who was abroad, refused to address the problems quickly. It was worrying when we read the notes and found that the key holder is difficult and we should contact the caretaker if having trouble. No caretaker number was given. Fortunately, although I could not open the key holder my daughter could. On the Saturday the hot water stopped heating. As proved to be the case, the problem was caused by a simple thermostat setting, but the controls were locked in a cupboard to which we had no access. We called the housekeeper, (number given in folder inside), but no response. We called the owner. What annoyed us most us that he refused to send anyone out the next day. Instead he called a plumber for Monday morning. Unfortunately, the plumber could not get access because the housekeeper did not show to gain access to the cupboard. The plumber returned the next day, after the house keeper had finally opened the cupboard, and turned the thermostat up.It's a nice house and location. Just cross your fingers that nothing goes wrong. No hot water from Saturday to Tuesday, when the problem could have been resolved in a few hours if the house keeper was available."

"A lovely place to stay for wonderful walks along the beach, the Undercliff Walk, straight down to Brighton Marina and Brighton Town Center. Just as well you can go for long walks in the countryside. The Cottage itself is beautiful and in a very good state. All electrical equipment is in a perfect state, Wifi is top. The bathroom is small, but nice and the shower works like a charm. Beds are perfect and the enclosed garden is a lovely place to enjoy a good cup of coffee or a nice BBQ. Rottingdean itself is very traffic polluted, moving along the streets as a pedestrian isn´t very pleasurable.Parking in the garage should be easy for Smarts or Minis, but not for SUVs. But there is enough free parking space up the road. Mind you, a long way up the road... ;-) No, it´s ok, you might have to walk 200 m or so.Once we had parked our car, we left it there all week and got us a Network Saver Bus ticket for roundabout 22 GPB a week. Cheaper and much more pleasurable than going into town by car.Would we come back to Rottingdean and S26240? Yes, any time!"

"The cottage was not as expected. On arrival the premises had obviously been neglected. On using the bathroom the toilet seat was loose, the shower handle was not secure and both the bath and sink had leeks in the U bends. In the kitchen was a fitted refrigerator which was not working correctly and failed to keep the food fresh. There was a further refrigerator in the hall, but this was also very poor. There was no information in respect of either the property or places to visit and there was little communication from the owner. On speaking with the owner when we left the property a day early, we became aware that the property had in fact been sold the previous day so it was obvious that this was the reason that the property had been allowed to get into the state we found it as they appeared to have lost interest as they were expecting to leave the premises and were not interested in keeping it in good repair. A very disappointing holiday!"

"The house is in a good location and has good accommodation and is well equipped, however there are a few things that let it down, first the front door entry lock, was very hard to operate and if pot luck if you manage to open it first time, the keys really need to be available from the house keeper when you arrive after a long journey, the cloak room toilet seat is broken, the back door is stiff and to open, complimentary bbq coals not available after numerous times to contact the house keeper and owner, the ensuite shower door was off its runners and the shower head was taped up. also the outside bins were full of rubbish and not emptied at all during our stay.Overall the house is in a great location for the beach and exploring the area around Brighton. Which we cycled to along the sea front...it is a shame it is let down by small items and could easily be sorted out with some basic maintanace and a bit more TLC."
