"This characterful property looks fantastic with its old wooden beams and quirky decorations (old sewing machine, skis and saddles). It has three double bedrooms (two of which use curtains to provide privacy from the communal areas) a large open plan living room/kitchen dinner, a log fire and two large bathrooms. There is plenty of outdoor space including a patio area with great views of the countryside. It was great for kids - they loved the space and the mezzanine bedroom. It is probably best used in warmer weather. Unfortunately we arrived on an unseasonally cold and snowy Easter Monday and the central heating was broken... the log fire wasn’t able to keep the large open plan space warm by itself. The owner did provide extra blankets and a heater and had the boiler fixed by breakfast the next day. However even with the heating on and using the log fire the temperature didn’t reach 20 degrees C. The property could benefit from one or two extra radiators if used in cold weather. Also a toaster and a couple of mirrors would have improved the comfort/usability of the cottage. S21471 is well located and easy to find. It is a rural property a mile or two from small towns with shops etc. It is about 1 hour from the coast, Powis Castle and other local sites. The countryside nearby was lovely and good for walking."

"A lovely cottage, with a well equipped kitchen and lounge and two bedrooms. It is well away from the main farmhouse, and it is hard to spot any other civilisation even with its sweeping views of the countryside. It is an eco cottage with no mains electricity - it is instead supplied from a wind turbine and has batteries as a backup, as well as a petrol generator for windless days. It doesn't have any high consumption items, even the kettle is heated on the gas hob. The heating is from a woodburning stove which was lit when i arrived. It burns logs fast, they need replacing every 30 mins or so, but there is a large store outside, though these are exposed and some were wet or damp. It was really hard to light the fire when it went out - it took a lot of time feeding it with newspaper and twigs and I think the logs were damp which didn't help - a lesson on how to do it better would have been helpful. The instructions on how to use the three levers and knob on the fire differed between a) what the owner said, b) what the instructions in the manual said, and c) what other guest comments said... Some consistency would be very helpful. It is the only source of heat and as it goes out an hour after being fed, it could get very cold indoors at night if the weather was cold."

"As a whole we all thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away. However we didn’t appreciate a visit from the owner at 08:00 on the Saturday morning, she came and inspected the hot tub, then came and spoke to members of the group. The hot tub felt cold when we went in it so obviously we turned it up. Which was apparently not allowed. This ‘inspection’ put us off using the hot tub again! As a group we have stayed in Many cottages with hot tubs, and have Never seen any owners. It felt like we were being monitored and we didn’t appreciate it!Apart from that the house was stunning, immaculate and we loved the log cabin. We had a beautiful welcome hamper which was appreciated. Every peice of kitchen equipment you could think of was there! We very nearly got snowed in, and we were offered to stay there no problem."

"We Had a Fantastic time at S21430, it is in a lovely location just outside Newtown, Newtown has everything you need, Shops, Supermarkets, Pubs, Takeaways Etc, there is lots to do in and around the area Castles and Red Kite centres, Museums etc. Going back to the cottage the Hot Tub and Cinema Room are fantastic, the Kitchen and lounge are very spacious and everything else just perfect. The owners looked after us brilliantly, they organised my daughters Horse riding out, and also looked after our 3 dogs one day while we had a long day out and also showed us how to work the cinema entertainment system, they also let us use a field to walk our dogs, the garden is also great for the dogs all enclosed. An excellent place to stay we will be back. Thank you for everything at S21430."

"Spent a lovely weekend here with friends. The accommodation is of a very high standard and good quality furnishings and appliances. They have thought of everything you could need. The house is huge and the cinema room is amazing. We arrived to find a lovely welcome package which included a bottle of prosecco, crisps, eggs, oatcakes and welsh cakes, bread, butter and milk and fresh flowers. The location is next to a farm so wake up to see the sheep each morning. There wasnt much to do around the local towns but we only went out for an hour or two so wasnt a huge problem. The hot tub was great and we had a great time making smores in the artic cabin. All in all i felt they really did go the extra mile to make our stay a pleasant one. Would definately recommend."
