Its location in North Wales & Snowdonia offers plenty to do, with the town of Bala nearby.
Reviewers unanimously mention the spotless condition of the cottage, indicating exceptional cleanliness that contributes to a comfortable and welcoming stay.
While the reviews are positive about activities nearby and mention the proximity to Bala, there is insufficient detail to accurately score the location.
The cottage is frequently described as cosy and comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a welcoming atmosphere, although one mention of the main bedroom being tight slightly impacts the perfect score.
Facilities are highly praised for being well-equipped and maintained, with mentions of a well-appointed kitchen and lovely garden. The presence of everything needed for a stay suggests excellent facilities and maintenance.
Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches by the owners, such as welcome packs with treats and essentials. While these are highly valued, it is politely noted that such gifts, though likely, are not guaranteed.
Bala 5.6 miles. Sitting in Llanuwchllyn near Bala, North Wales is this charming, mid-terrace cottage of Coed Y Glyn. Dating back to the 1800s, this listed building is a delightful base for a family of four wanting to explore Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, boasting welcoming interiors throughout and resting moments away from Llyn Tegid. After parking up on the road outside, make your way inside to find an inviting sitting room, where an electric fire creates a warm atmosphere for you to unwind and watch the Smart TV in. Continue to the country-style kitchen/diner, where all you need for a self-catering stay can be found, including an electric cooker and even a Velvetiser! After creating a culinary delight here, it can be savoured at the dining table as you plan your holiday itinerary. After tucking into dinner, head outside to the external utility to throw any old clothing into the washing machine. Behind here lies a restored bakery, where the original bread oven (not working) can be found, along with Cob the pheasant! When sleep calls, catch your rest in one of the two attractive bedrooms, a double and a twin, both of which enjoy access to a well-presented bathroom. Within easy reach of the property is the classic pub of Yr Eagles, where you can stop for a hearty lunch before boarding the fantastic Bala Lake Railway to Bala Lake, where ample hiking, watersports and unwinding can be enjoyed. The market town of Bala can also be found nearby, hosting the superb Bala Golf Club along with the pretty park of Lower Tryweryn; your amenities can be found here, too, such as Y Cyfnod Cafe & Bistro and several shops! Spend some time in Corwen, where hikes up to Caer Drewyn, walks along the River Dee and visits to Rhug Estate can be enjoyed. The lovely locations of Dolgellau, Llangollen and Betws-y-Coed are also easily reached, all offering access to a range of activities. A memorable stay in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park awaits at Coed Y Glyn.
The lively market town of Bala is nestled inside the stunning Snowdonia National Park, at the top of Llyn Tegid, Bala's famed lake, which is Wales' biggest natural lake and home to the rare Gwyniad, an Ice Age remnant. I booked this cottage without paying much attention to where, in Wales, it was! My main priority was having an enclosed garden in a place we could relax in and take our two dogs. Coed y Glyn proved to be this.. and so much more. Set in beautiful countryside with a warm village feel, we enjoyed it all immensely and Llanuwchylin station was amazing - like stepping back in time. Definitely worth booking a trip up to Bala. The village also has a lovely pub, y Eagle, with fabulous food which also served as a village shop. The staff were lovely and helpful when we initially couldnât find anywhere to sit (booking strongly recommended) The cottage itself is warm, comfy and very well fitted out. The owners are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Not that we needed anything, but we felt we could just âaskâ at any time. Sadly our 4 day visit was over too quickly so we will just HAVE to return.
