This C16th gatehouse stands within the ancient courtyard and knot garden of Gwydir Castle, just outside historic Llanrwst.
This cottage is a simple conversion of the 16th century Gatehouse at Gwydir Castle, just outside Llanrwst and 4 miles north of Betws-y-Coed, on the eastern side of the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage provided compact accommodation in a historic stone building, Grade I listed and retaining interesting characterful features. An excellent base for walking, mountain biking and other outdoor pursuits; guests can also visit the castle itself (open to the public and occasionally used for weddings) and explore the interesting historic gardens, home to several peacocks!

We had a wonderful holiday in the gatehouse. It was as described. I think all self catering is expensive so just have to accept this. The settee was uncomfortable for me but otherwise all was good. Lovely to have access to grounds and Gwydir Castle at anytime.
