The Old Farmhouse Kitchen is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its peaceful location, proximity to the coastal path, and comfortable accommodations. Guests appreciate the property's spaciousness, warm atmosphere, and the owner's helpfulness. The scenic surroundings and the 'secret garden' add to the charm of this cottage, making it a desirable base for exploring the Pembrokeshire coast.
Guests have found the cottage to be generally clean, though some noted areas for improvement, including cobwebs and dust in corners. The feedback suggests that while the property is maintained to a satisfactory standard, a deeper clean could enhance the experience.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning scenery, and easy access to the Pembrokeshire coastal path. Its proximity to local attractions and beaches like Whitesands is consistently appreciated by guests.
The cottage is described as warm, cosy, and comfortable, with guests enjoying the homely feel and comfortable beds. However, some guests suggested the addition of a fan for warmer days and a second bathroom to improve comfort further.
The property is well-furnished and equipped for a pleasant stay, but some guests reported minor maintenance issues such as a dripping tap and under-equipped kitchen. An update of the information folder and clearer instructions for appliances would be beneficial.
While some guests mentioned the lack of welcoming touches such as a pint of milk or bread upon arrival, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to accurately assess the thoughtfulness of the host in terms of providing gifts or additional amenities.
This former farmhouse kitchen and servants' quarters dating from the 14th century, has now been totally renovated to provide stylish and contemporary living with traditional features.
There are views of the coastline from the land behind the cottage, from Strumble Head to St Davids and the Pembrokeshire coast path can be easily joined by walking across two fields. There are plenty of beaches, harbours and coves to explore including Abereiddy, Porthgain Harbour, Whitesands, Traethllyfn, the Blue Lagoon and Abermawr. The cottage is 3 miles from St Davids which has a super selection of individual shops, galleries and eateries. Porthgain has a very welcoming pub called The Sloop Inn and an award winning restaurant called The Shed, both loved by locals and holiday makers alike.
The city of St Davids is situated on the far south west coast of Wales. Granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II, it is the smallest city in the UK, with its magnificent cathedral dating back to the 12th century and the ruins of the Bishop's Palace, both wonderful buildings to explore. Situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, St Davids is a delightful place with an array of unique shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery. Nearby Whitesands Bay is one of the many beautiful beaches in the area, and walkers will delight in the spectacular views from the coastal path which runs around the complete coastline of Pembrokeshire. Local buses will help with your walking plans, so that you can walk several stretches of the path with totally different landscapes and views each day. Dolphin spotting from land or from the many boat trips to local islands are a must, and are also perfect for enjoying the wonderful array of birds in their natural habitat. St Davids is the perfect holiday destination, whether you are looking for a quiet relaxing break, wonderful walking, a round of golf, an exploration of magnificent castles or fun-filled days at Oakwood Theme Park, farm parks and much more.

Cosy touches like rugs on chairs and sofa were really nice. Heating very efficient.

Lots to do outdoors including sandy beach at Whitesands. The only negatives are having no upstairs toilet and the kitchen being sparingly stocked e.g. no mixing bowl. We'd happily go back here.

It was in excellent condition and was warm and comfortable, with everything we needed. The surroundings were wonderful, with old farm buildings where the birds were nesting, and peaceful walks to the sea or towards the inland lakes where we saw wild rabbits in the evenings and swallows skimming over the water. We enjoyed being in the cottage at either end of the day- it was peaceful and relaxing, with comfortable beds. The cottage is conveniently situated for short drives to many beautiful beaches and coastal walks, and it was only 10 minutes from St David's. We can't wait to return- thank you Mrs Rees, for a lovely stay.
