Bus links or steam train to Beddgelert gave us two great days walking in the Snowdonia National Park. We did many other walks including to Portmerion. The house is very comfortable and we all slept well. It would be better though to have a walk in shower upstairs instead of the corner bath. We all had a great week but a few things could have been better. The dishwasher definitely needs replacing. Racks are no longer staple and the button to change programs gave up during our stay and has been in a poor state for a long time. We did not mind the washing up but we thought the kitchen needed a deep clean and attention. Gas cooker needs a service, at least one of the burners does not fire evenly. One of the knobs comes off. Did not even want to touch the extractor fan panel. Found a wine glass with a piece missing at the back of the cupboard and a plate with a crack down the middle. Plus point, massive fridge freezer and loads of cupboard space which is often in short supply in other properties I have stayed in. Cleared the worst brambles in the courtyard and the scrubbed the garden table. Last item was a beeping carbon monoxide monitor that should have been replaced at the end of June. I flagged this up via the Sykes office and the owner very kindly hang a bag of batteries on the front door. The carbon monoxide unit was if the kind where you cannot replace the battery and it needed to be destroyed. It spend the week in the oven glove inside a drawer to deaden the noise. Did not want to waste more time on phone calls . Kitchen knives are blunt and either need replacing or sharpening. Once kitchen issues have been fixed I would have no hesitation of booking this property again as Criccieth is a lovely place to stay with good amenities and we would all recommend the Deli, the bakery and the Crab and Lemon restaurant by the station in particular.

Very good location with sea views from the front of the property and views of the castle from the rear balcony. Large American style fridge/freezer, which was superb as there was 7 of us. Very comfortable living area. Beds were comfortable and clean. Washing machine was a welcome addition with 7 of us. The bottle of prosecco was a nice touch. There's a few issues that I will cover, although some are minor. (1) The spa/jacuzzi bath didnt work. Very disappointing, as that was one of the features we were looking forward to using. We contacted the owner and got a response, but it wasn't repaired during our stay. (2) One burner on the cooker didn't ignite with the clicker. (3) The oven had a strong smell of gas when used, and food took a long time to cook. I noticed one of the glass stoppers were missing, so I assume the oven wasn't sealing fully. (4) The dishwasher door was loose as a screw had come undone. We didn't use it. (5) Damp patch next to the back door with peeling paint. (6) The games room was very dusty and had lots of cobwebs. Also the pool table was wobbly so we didn't use it. One pool cue didn't have a tip on it. There was only 3 usable darts for the dart board. Another selling point we were disappointed with as it wasn't really usable. (7) There was only 1 power supply for the massage chairs in the living room. (8) One radiator thermostat was missing and one didn't regulate heat one of the bedrooms. Although we didn't really need the heating on, it's something the owner might want to look in to? (9) A few extension leads would be appreciated as the plug sockets in the bedrooms are not in great positions. (10) It would have been nice to have had a vacuum cleaner, as after a week, the carpet was a bit messy. (11) Opposite the property there is a dementia care home and a couple of nights there was loud shouting. Also the view is slightly spoilt by a skip and numerous rubbish bins in the care homes car park. Obviously not the owners fault, but it's worth noting. I was hoping for a small amount of compensation due to the spa bath not working as we paid over £1000 for our stay. Apart from these issues we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed waking up to the sea views. The house is located in a brilliant position for the village shops and beach.
