Guests say

Park View Cottage is a well-furnished and comfortable property in a scenic and quiet rural location, ideal for exploring North Wales. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, the cosy decor, and the lovely secret garden. The cottage is generally well-equipped, though some guests noted minor maintenance issues.

Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, but there were a few mentions of cleanliness issues such as dirty bath, crockery, and windows, as well as dead flies on arrival. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than a consistent problem.

The cottage is praised for its beautiful setting and proximity to nature reserves and local attractions. However, some guests found the parking situation challenging due to the narrow lane and limited space, especially for larger vehicles.

Guests consistently report that the beds are comfortable and the bedding luxurious. The property is described as homely and the extra toilet is appreciated. The comfort of the property is a highlight in the reviews.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, but several reviews mention issues with lighting and a lack of basic provisions such as toilet rolls and washing up liquid. Some guests suggested improvements like an outdoor hose for dogs and a mop for the kitchen.

While guests have suggested that the provision of basic items like tea, coffee, and bin bags would be appreciated, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score cannot be provided.

About this property

Caerwys 1.1 miles. The hamlet of Afonwen in Flintshire, North Wales is home to this delightful end-of-terrace property, Park View Cottage. Providing superb accommodation for a group or family of four, you can enjoy being within reach of many popular North West destinations, like Chester or Llandudno, to name a few! Step inside and follow the long hallway to find the spacious living room/diner, to your left resting before the charming bay window is a recliner and a sofa, arranged around the open fire and the Smart TV; settle down on one of the soft seats with your loved ones and enjoy a quiet evening in. To the other side of the room, passing beneath the curved archway, you can gather at the dining table to sit down for a meal, play a board game or simply plan the rest of your trip. Continue to the kitchen which plays host to a fine range of appliances, including an electric oven and hob, as well as a large fridge/freezer, here you can take it in turns to rustle up some tasty treats for the rest of the group. Spend warmer evenings sat out in the enclosed rear courtyard, thoughtfully decorated to offer a peaceful spot to enjoy at the end of the day, with a store here perfect for storing bikes in. When it’s time to call it a night, head upstairs to your bedroom with the choice of either the king-size bedroom or the twin room, both delightfully adorned in pale blue and white, with plenty of furniture at hand for storing your things, and a bathroom boasting a bath, and a separate walk-in shower too. Find your nearest shops and pubs in one of the smallest towns in Great Britain which sits next door to Afonwen, the town of Caerwys, home to a few shops and pubs. Delight in walks in the surrounding area, or head up to the coast with a selection of beaches to choose from dotted along including Talacre, Prestatyn, Rhyl and Colwyn Bay, all popular when the sun comes out and great for letting the dog have a good run-around. Visit the ancient Roman city of Chester for a day of history and culture, walk the City Walls, browse the shops along the Tudor Rows, tour the magnificent Chester Cathedral, and finish the day with a walk alongside the River Dee. Within easy reach of the lively city of Liverpool too, you can relish a relaxing but fun-filled retreat to Park View Cottage.

Caerwys is, surprisingly for its size, a town resting in North Wales, granted a Royal Charter in 1290, it's one of the smallest towns in Great Britain. Offering two pubs, a few shops, a Post Office and a scattering of local businesses, this little settlements provides all you need for a wonderful self-catered stay. Venture out to nearby Llandudno, Talacre, and Prestatyn for stretches of sandy beach along the coast, and find history and culture within the Roman City Walls of Chester.

Jill very helpful and came to out to demonstrate how to use the Hob. Unfortunately we had to cut short our holiday and return home after a couple of days so didn't have time to explore much of the area , but we would have no worries returning to Avonwen cottage again. Barbara

Secret garden is lovely, shame there’s no pictures to show potential guests. 5 minutes from the A55- ideal for exploring N. Wales and Chester area

The standard of the interior of the cottage blow us away, it is clean, modern, and in outstanding condition. There is plenty of space and the small garden at the back is ideal for your morning coffee (when not raining). The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable, we slept very well as it was very quiet all night. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better we found the secret garden which is superb and we enjoyed a BBQ. We took our dog with us and he normally doesn't settle in a new place but even he fully enjoyed the long weekend. I have already recommended this cottage to my friends and family, we will defiantly be booking here again and for a longer stay. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful and top class cottage.
